Comment:

Great guy who integrates up-to-date examples from politics to illustrate important principles of public speaking. Cares about students and provides excellent advise about how to develop a good speech. Exams are easy as long as you study using the study guides provided by Dr. Schamber. Really helped me develop my oral communication skills.

Comment:

This class has many components - but if you stay on top of the schedule and do your work - it is an easy A. Exams are based on lecture and the book - very straightforward if you do the study guide. Only problem my friends faced was remembering when they had speeches/critiques due - be wary of your syllabus. Interesting class, I recommend!

Lectures are boring because it's simple stuff that he outlines on a ppt. Cool prof, gives you study guides for all tests! Tests can be tricky if you didn't take the time to memorize all the small details from the study guide. Overall, easy course. Just bare through the many useless lectures and discussion section speeches.

One of my favorite comm courses I have taken. He gives you the option of what project you want to be part of. There's the American Cancer Society, Delta Blood Bank, and a special topics group that varies from each semester. There are 3 easy short papers, 2 short reflections, and no exams! Overall a very rewarding experience.

Really easy class if you just follow directions. I read the textbook (you can skim, it's simple stuff), took notes in class (copy down ppt.), and reviewed those notes for tests. I thought he did a decent job of making a boring class somewhat easy to listen to. Overall pretty good

Prof. Schamber has been teaching public speaking forever, so he knows what he's talking about. The class lectures do get pretty dull, but be sure to take notes. Especially on the LISTS from the lecture AND the book. He likes testing for those. The tests aren't too bad as long as you study. Be sure to prepare for disc. speeches ahead of time!!

OMG! This class was useless!! Goes on and on about a certain subject that can be taught in 5 minutes and the entire class could be taught in 10 minutes!! The T.As he has are useless and hard graders but just kiss ass to get an A. Overall 4 speeches and 4 exams. Not hard at all

This class is useless and I did not learn anything. This class teaches you how to repeat verbatim of the class notes and format. Just follow the format and notes strictly and you will do fine on tests. Sometimes I would get a correct answer wrong because I did not word it exactly like class notes. Grade is also dependent on ta. So pick a good one.

Amazing person and teacher! Genuinely cares about students and education. Extremely helpful, fair and kind. May have a bias against little rich kids who think he should just GIVE grades away. If you don't believe he's tough enough, take a grad level class from him.
