Comment:

I took two classes with Casanova: "Immigrant NY in Comparative Perspective" and "SOciological Theory". The first one was extremely interesting and useful. Accent is not indeed very strong and one can get used to it easily. The second also rather challenging because of tons of readings, but still, in general, it very good.

I strongly recommend to take his classes. He is one of the best professors at the graduate faculty. His lectures are very intersting and he is willing to answer all the questions. Prof.Casanova is a very knowledgeable professor and it is an honor to take his classes. He does speak English with an accent, but who doesn't in NYC?

Not very coherent in his lectures. His comments on papers are just as difficult to decipher. He is also very difficult to get ahold of for help with the course and papers.
