Awesome professor. Best I've had a GU so far. Not terribly difficult, partly because he doesn't quiz you on the hardest material and because he's such a good teacher. Really felt like I learned a ton. Would recommend to anyone. Extremely engaging lectures

He's a nice guy and a very knowledgeable professor, but very tough on essays. Midterm wasn't that bad and blogs weren't either. Would have done much better had it not been for the essay.

Prof. Osgood has an entertaining personality which makes for an interesting class. He is a little awkward one-on-one initially, but he is easy to talk to if you need help. He really cares about his students and the subject matter, and it really shows.

Very good but rigorous class; Osgood clearly knows his stuff. It involves 2 in-class exams, 2 essays, and weekly discussion sections based on prodigious reading amounts. However, all this work does make for a more rewarding experience in the end, and although he is a tough grader, strong participation is rewarded.

Awesome professor. If you're looking for a relatively easy history class, Roman History is the way to go. 2 papers, midterm, and a final. All around just a great guy. Plus you get to read all of the ancient historians.

He is a good professor, I just find him to be boring at times. This led to me getting distracted in class and quickly losing interest in the subject matter. It's unfortunate that he's not more interesting, I really love the topic but for some reason I just found Osgood boring rather than stimulating

Osgood is truly an awesome professor. He'll push you through Cicero and Vergil with only a little bit of trouble. Fairly easy grader, I can't imagine anyone getting below a B in this class if they actually put in the work.

I took "Rise of Rome" as an elective, and loved both the class and Osgood. He's extremely knowledgeable and committed to his students, and transmits the material in a clear and precise way. Participation is key, which is good. He has a sharp sense of humor (and a keen fashion sense!) and is such a pleasure to have as a professor.

Class moves quickly, so if you do not do your work, it can be difficult to follow, at times. Midterm + final were both very straightforward, final was NOT bad at all. Rushed poetry a bit at the end...

OMG his socks. Osgood is by far the nicest of the Classics Dpt. on one's GPA and has a deadly sense of humor, but doesn't make you fundamentally reevaluate your existence the way some professors at GU do.

The class was pretty interesting, but the graded discussions where he randomly calls on people kind of suck. There's not a whole lot of work, but papers are sub-fun to write. Overall not bad and pretty interesting though.

I don't know how anyone can get lower than a B+ in one of his courses. Extremely easy grader, yet I did learn a lot this semester. You didn't even need to translate everything-just make sure you do well in class on a consistent basis.

Professor Osgood is a very interesting lecturer and very helpful outside of class. Expects you to put some effort into papers but very fair grader. Gives extra credit and opportunities to rewrite papers. Though there is lots of reading, most of it is unnecessary. Go to class, study the textbook, and follow his study guides he hands out. Take him!

Osgood is the kind of guy I would much rather hang out with, maybe go to a bar with, than EVER have as my professor. He is oviously very intelligent, knowledgable and passionate about his subject. The only problem is, its boring. His tests are ridiculously hard, and he is a very tough grader on papers. Why'd I take this class??????????????????????
