Comment:

Her methods of teaching are boring, she is condescending and unhelpful in office hours, and structures her tests so that you have to memorize an indecent amount of paintings and forget it all the next day. Essays on tests are a joke (the one part that should NOT be). I learned nothing from this class.

Comment:

Professor Oliver is a delight and her class is excellent. She cares deeply about her students both on an academic and personal level. Students who are willing to work hard and open their minds (i.e. students who actually belong at Colgate) are in for a rich and rewarding intellectual expereince and will be justly rewarded come grading day.

As a whole, we frequently dreamed about bulldozing her (and her billowing trenchcoat, reminiscent of the pilgrim era) down with our vehicles during her morning strut up Oak Drive to make everyone at Colgate's life miserable.

Her lectures are quite boring and unless you are focusing your life on subtle aspects of art, this class may not be for you. Office hours are not the most helpful and she is one of the hardest graders I have experienced. I got a B, but I think it was just because she thought I was totally unaware of art and I might have earned some pity.

Prof Oliver is a terror! She is unhelpful, condescending, and generally malicious; her class was insufferably boring. She holds permanent grudges, and if you are not among the select few to be graced with her favor, you are in for a miserable semester. Avoid her at all costs if you cherish your soul.

the worst professor I have ever had. I love art and she made me hate it! if you dont write exactly what she wants or have any opinion of your own she will give you bad grades.THE WORST THING ABOUT COLGATE if i had had her freshman year i would have left. She was very interested and knowledgable of the material she taught. If you bother to learn the material on the tests you will do well. If you are capable of writing a decent paper, you will do well. i enjoyed oliver's class like i enjoy a nice pot of boiling wax poured onto my balls. Listining to the professor's extremely boring monotonous voice almost caused me to involuntarily vomit in my mouth on multiple occasions. Not to mention she dropped my grade down a few LETTERS for no apparent reason.
