You need to do a ton of work in this class to get a good grade, and grading is kind of tough, but Julia is a very good teacher and you will learn a lot.

Julia is awesome!!! She is hilarious, and really makes learning fun. She is pretty tough though, but if you work hard and participate, she notices. Grammar and Comp is a stressful class not matter who you have, but she definitely makes it enjoyable. Do well and it will be very rewarding. I was on track to get a A-, but she bumped me up to an A!

Julia is a great teacher. She expects a lot from her students but the way that she teaches makes you want to learn. She is alos extremely helpful in office hours. I took her for SPAN 0025 and then again for SPAN 0050 and got an A in both class. She's awesome

Don't expect Spanish to be easy with her, but you will truly learn by her teaching abilities. She is incredibly nice, funny, and cute and you will immediately love her as a teacher. She also creates a great learning environment. Make sure to participate in class.

I loved Julia, she had a great sense of humor but was really serious about teaching. I probably learned more in her class than most of the classes I have ever taken. This is not a good-off spanish class though, this class is serious and she requires serious work and effort. Some students also clashed with her but for the most part the class was fun

Personally, I thought Julia was a great teacher - very personable, one of my favorites. The class is hard, if your Spanish is rusty. The problem is that a lot of kids get into that class based on placement. She assumes you know what you ought to if you had taken Spanish at Pitt (fair). I thought she was very fair and her class was a lot of fun.

For her class, I'd recommend starting strong from the start. You aren't allowed to miss more than 3 classes during the semester or you'll grade'll drop. You absolutely must participate to do well. At least 2 or 3 times per class. Her exams are unbelievably difficult. In these spanish courses, small mistakes on exams count big for the exam grade.

Julia is REALLY funny, and adorable. She keeps class exciting and is very organized. However, she's a TOUGH grader ..if you want to take Conversation or Grammar you probably shouldn't take Julia. (you need at least a B+ to move on)

I loved her! She always kept the class interesting and was truly interested and involved with the students in class. Be aware that this class is VERY difficult, however, if you meet with her she is extremely helpful. Make sure you study for every test and watch your grammar. She is a wonderful profesor but also very very very tough.

Very fun and humorous in class! You won't have a bad time in class (which is good, considering that attendance is near mandatory-can't miss more than 2 days all semester). A lot of busy work/homework and tests did not seem to be curved. If you work harder than I did though, you just might get an A or an A+, which she's apparently reluctant to give.

Julia is a terrible professor. She seems nice, but quickly forms opinions of students. My participation grade and grades on written assignments never varied, whether I put in tons of effort or absolutely none at all. Her unfair grading and blatent favorites policy has given me an extreme distaste for our Spanish department. Avoid this professor.
