Inspirational lectures, really make you think. The class is reading-heavy, so read. The class is made up of a small section, midterm, and final, so stay on top. Other than that, you'll WANT to go to class

amazing professor! Attendance isn't mandatory nor is it taken during the large lectures, but you will need the notes in order to pass the class (whether or not you go). The small section is worth 30% of your grade and my TA (Paul) went over the readings during that time so if you don't read the book, at least go to the small section once a week.

Sociology 101 with Choi was honestly so entertaining, inspirational and interesting. Dr. Choi genuinely cares about his students and the content he is teaching. Majority of the grade is based on your performance on the Midterm and Final, but if you show up to lectures, pay attention and read the assigned readings, you'll do fine.

The passion that he has for this course is beyond amazing. I genuinely looked forward to lectures & was inspired and moved by what he would say during lectures. The course really opened up my eyes to a lot of different things & I doubt I wouldve gotten the same experience with any other professor. definitely take Soc 101 with Choi!

Choi is an AMAZING guy and professor. Large lecture attendance is not mandatory but he makes in interesting so you want to go. Small section attendance is mandatory and the class work varies by TA. Choi's midterms are not easy but I recommend doing the readings in all 3 textbooks and paying attention in his lectures and you'll be fine.

Why is it that the working class (the ones who work the most) have the less money? Professor Choi clearly chose the right career. He loves teaching and wants to inspired new generations to make the world a better place. Never bored in lecture. Makes you want to do good. Work were just few simple essays and tests are not too hard.

Sociology with Prof Choi was really the only class I could skip this semester, but I wouldn't want to because his lectures were just that amazing! Attendance is not mandatory, and depending on who your small section TA is, there really isn't any homework. The tests are straightforward and I got by without doing any reading, if you can, take him!

I really like his lectures. I learned a lot about society and also was able to reflect on my own viewpoints. He is passionate about what he talks about. The only downside about him is the few grade points you get even with the small section. So do well on the tests and don't even take it lightly if you suck at taking educated guesses.

Take another class if you can. If not, get another prof. Choi often came to class unorganized, then ranted nonstop about capitalism, Trump, and our education system. He taught that women cannot be sexist and that colored people cannot be racist. And if you speak up or challenge his views in any way, he WILL shut you up. This shouldn't be allowed.

If you do the readings you will pass but if you show up and engage in big and small lecture he will give you an A. He doesnt care if you memorize certain things so much as you get the overall concept and passes that on to his TAs. His lectures are amazing and he is so funny it was the first class Ive ever taken that I looked forward to. 10/10

Dr. Choi is hands down the best prof at state. Everyone should take his Soc-101 class, regardless of major. He really knows what he is talking about and to lectures are interesting. There's a midterm, a final, & a small section where attendance counts. The textbook readings are not long, and if you go to lecture you could get away without doing it.

Choi is probably the best professor for this class; he's very enthusiastic and his lectures are always interesting. He doesn't use powerpoints so lectures are a little unstructured, but take notes. Tests ask questions about the textbooks, so make sure you do the reading. Overall an easy A if you attend class, take decent notes, and study for tests.
