I studied under this man 35 years ago and can agree that he can be difficult. He's also brilliant and one of the most vivid and knowledgeable teachers I have ever had.

Dr. Verma is a very hard teacher. He is a cute, old man, but confusing and hard to understand. The novels are interesting but MUST keep up with the reading b/c he will call on you in class. He gives a lot of work, and does not explain clearly what he wants. He gives a lot of points, but there is one big 16 page paper and tons of little ones.

Comment:

Sitting in front of a WiFi might teach you more. Unless you want to take a course in "The ego of me," avoid him. He doesn't want students to talk in class, he doesn't listen to students, he pontificates without lecturing, and he's nearly incomprehensible. Besides that, you'll be crammed against the walls while he hogs the front of the room.

He was a very difficult professor to endure. He asked questions (about the reading) to make you feel ackward. Basically, you analyzed literature by sitting in a circle and discussing the text. Also, you had to either right journals or papers in addition to the occasionaly in-class essay questions. His accent doesn't help either. I would avoid him!

Kamal is definitely one of the most interesting teachers I've ever had. He's a real oddball, but his class is extremely intriguing and if you do your work, show up to class, and provide insight into the texts further than what he talks about in class, you'll do fine.

His directions are vague. He assigns an insane amount of reading. Keeps you late. Grades unfairly and harsh. You can never understand what he says. Refuses to communicate unless you go to his office, and even then his responses are useless. Doesn't answer questions clearly. AVOID THIS INSANE MAN AT ALL COSTS!

Dr. Verma is a nice man and I did like him, however, as a professor he is VERY difficult to understand. Classes consist of discussing the assigned reading (which was usually 100-150 pages a night... if you didnt read, he knew it.. avoid this class if possible, but not an impossible class to get a "B" in.

I hated this class. He always kept us late and would go on and on about stuff that had NOTHING to do with the assigned text. He put people on the spot, hated if you asked him questions or argued, and was impossible to understand. Speak up, man!
