I like Karen, she does a good job of explaining everything through tons of examples so you have a ton of templates to use to work through homework problems. Any questions you have you can ask in class and she will work through the problem and give you tips and tricks on how to get it next time. Just listen when she says memorize!!

Karen is willing to go the extra mile to help students if they ask for it. Math isn't easy, but she does her best to explain things in a way that makes sense and offers resources to help a student succeed if they put there mind to it. I have had few professors as committed to student success as she is. Karen is one of the best.

She could explain the work so everyone student could understand. If you didn't understand though, she was easy to talk to and helpful so you could understand it. I wish I could take her again. I'm not a math person and she made math easy and understandable.

Great teacher, she loves math and bring humor into the classroom. Some people have mistaken sarcasm for criticism and need to realize that they are entering adulthood! She teaches very thoroughly and offers many opportunities to help you between classes. Do not miss class and do not fall behind because you will not catch up!

This class is not an easy class, despite the 101, and it is not meant to be easy. Karen does a very good job attempting to clarify. You cannot expect to slide by, especially if you are in a class preparing you to teach the future of the country. Most who comment will likely be unhappy because they cannot read directions on the tests.

Easygoing, not intimidating like I expected a math instructor to be. willing to revisit things that may be unclear. I felt very comfortable stopping her to ask questions. Very fair grader. I reccommend her very highly. Don't think I'd have gotten an A without having such an empathic teacher. Even helped us on homework in the cafeteria! Rare.

I would never suggest this teacher to anyone. She was horrible and doesn't fit your learning needs. Shes very good at be-littling people especially if you don't come to class. Shes exceptionaly good at making you feel small and worthless,and god forbid you don't know something. The worst teacher ever. She doesn't care about student success.

Mrs. Carlson is very thorough in explaining difficult to understand formulas. She is a nice person and gets the class involved. She can take difficult concepts and put them in everyday terms that anyone can understand. Very good professor for a smaller school like NCMC

Karen has a weird sense of humor and her classtime is often surreal (but fun!!). Do . . . not . . . miss . . . class. If you skip and try to learn the material from the textbook, you're basically screwed. Go to class, listen, do the homework, ask questions and y'know what happens? You get an A. That's how it works in college, kiddo.

Excellent instructor, will stop and re-explain as many times as it takes.Does a review of the last class at the beginning of each class to orient you.Projects and homework give you the added boost to keep your grade up.I hated the whole idea that I had to take this class but she cared that I tried and I did well.Danged if I didn't get a B+ in it!
