I read a comment saying she was good if you attended class, took notes and read the text material.. hello.. It's University.. Get over it, and get to work. She was a fair grader.. Had a bias against typologies, and expected adult behavior.

I had Dr. Sinclair 30 years ago, took 3 or 4 courses. In those days she was a hard grader - many students flunked-out of ANT 135, an introductory course. Things were very different then - she had a reputation for expecting a lot from students; you had better attended the lectures & do assigned readings. Students were dared to take a "Karen class!"

Waste of money to take this class. She doesnt know how to use technology, a dry erase marker, or her voice. I only read one of the 4 books because I read something by the author before. I didnt use the textbook. We watched 6 movie and learned nothing. Well except for her rants about New Zealand Maori because that is all she knows= her field work :(

Useless. Take someone else if you want a foundation to anthropology. Take her if you want a professor that is scattered and always late and tells stories about the Maori. Attendance is not mandatory. She is a nice person overall and friendly, but better suited to field work not organized teaching.

I love Dr. Sinclair-she's a great teacher and has taught me more about global cultures than any other professor. She's good at being a professor but I agree that she does not give a linear lecture. I highly recommend her classes--I have taken many and have always loved the books we read in class.

Worst professor ever. Nice lady overall and somewhat understanding in general, however her class is totally not linear, very scattered, and mostly about her telling stories and you repeating them. Not a good foundation for anthropology.

She is scatterbrained, it's true - but she can facilitate very good discussions if you are engaged, which is easy if you read what she assigns and have a pulse...

Shes a great lady and really enjoys her job she's just alittle scatter brained when giving a lecture. leave plenty of room when taking notes because she always comes back to an idea and adds stuff. PS class is not manditory but GO! if you dont you will fail end of story.

A good teacher if you attend the lectures, take notes, and read all the course material. There were a lot of movies, but they were usually very interesting. Only complaints are that she's late all the time, lazy on grading, ONLY SEEMS TO TALK ABOUT THE MAORI, and grade is only dependent on two tests, a book/movie review, and a final.

Awful class. She's incredibly scatterbrained. I honestly couldn't tell you what she was talking about half the time, nothing is linear, completely random lectures each class. She's a friendly woman, I'll give her that... and that's about it, possibly the most unorganized professor I've ever had in my 3 years here at eastern.

I took her for anth 135 and 355 and she is an excellent professor. She is very knowledgable in the subjects, the book were very interesting, she is very understanding and flexible. I didn't even take one exam out of three and just explained to her why I missed it she understood and I got an A out of the course. I would definately take her again.

She's a bit of a scatterbrain, but very nice and knowledgeable. She's understanding and flexible. I found her movies to be very relevant. If you need a professor that holds your hand and walks you through material she isn't for you. You have to be an independent learner. That said, if you attend her lectures and do the work you'll do well.

I personally really enjoyed this class. If you like to read, this is a great class for you. We read 4-5 novels, but all are really well. Exams were fairly easy, you just have to make sure you have read the books, and been in class for notes. ONly one very short book review on either a book or one of the many movies we watched. Great class!

I personally thought Prof. Sinclair was a great professor. I found the class discussions and lectures to be very interesting. We watched a lot of movies and were required to read a few books, but there were only two exams (not including the final) and one small paper. She's very helpful and I'd definitely recommend her and her class.
