Comment:

Dr. Dierenfield is a fine professor and nice lady, but one with extremely high standards. Throughout the semester each class would be her lecturing and going over a powerpoint for over an hour. Her papers and exams weren't terrible, but she graded them really hard! She is known as one of the hardest teachers at Canisius, and now I know why.

Dr. Dierenfield is a fine professor. I admit that she can be very strict when it comes to grading papers. However, she knows history well and teaches effectively. If you are not willing to put in hard work then you will struggle in her classes. She is fair and does truly care about trying to have her students be aware of the world around them.

I wanted to take American History because I had background knowledge and this class was the absolute worst class I have ever taken, I do not recommend this class unless you love history because I had to drag myself to this class. She is the hardest grader ever and takes points off for everything. Be prepared to work hard for a good grade.

She is the worst prof at canisius, her expectations are through the roof and she is not understanding . If you take her class be prepared to not look at your phone the whole class period because if you even glance at it shell threaten to kick you out of class

Dr dierenfield is the WORST prof at canisius, she gives the most ridiculous tests, fill in the blank, 3 short answers and 3 essays in only a normal class period.. material is interesting but she makes the class painful. Do not take any class with her

Dr. Dierenfield is not the professor for you if you won't put in some work, but she was very informative and I really enjoyed her style of teaching. If you pay attention every class you will be ok. Very helpful, very educated and also funny. Tests weren't bad either cuz she let you choose which questions to answer.

Honestly one of the best and will remain one of the best professors I have had. She is extremely knowledgable about history which, as a student, is so interesting and admirable. The work load is managable but you have to put a lot of effort into everything for her class to do well. Power points are very vague so 100% take notes and pay attention.

I loved Dr. Dierenfield. She was very clear with her notes and talked in a way that was easy to understand. Quizes were very easy, although tests were long and somewhat hard. She is a tough grader on essays-- but advises you to use the tutoring center and even proofreads your work if you email her a few days before the due date! Overall great!

If you're looking to just fill out your history and service learning requirement, take someone else. Although she is clear, her grading style is very difficult. She allowed for 2 absences, had scheduled quizzes and tests, required 4 papers (2 based on 2 books aside from the text, 1 on an oral interview, and one on service learning). Nice, but hard.

This teacher is very fair and clear about what she wants in the class. Although quizzes, tests, and papers can be challenging, they are not really difficult unless you fail to pay attention in class or read what's assigned. There is also plenty of opportunities to revive your grade with extra credit.

She is absolutely terrible!! If your not into History and your just taking it to fulfill the history requirement do yourself a favor, don't taker her! The class seems easy but when it came to the test and papers she grades ridiculously hard. If you don't share her point of views don't expect an A!! Little work but not worth the grade I recieved :(

She has some humor but it is weird. She is an incredibly hard graded on her exams and papers. Homework is 3 papers. you have to read an entire (long) book and write the paper. midterm and final too. She is nice just really hard. not sure it was worth it

I have mixed feelings on Dr. Dierenfield. I took her husband and he was amazing. I thought she would be the same. Instead, she seemed bitter and arrogant. If your views do not match hers, she will let you know it. She will tear your papers apart if they are not up to par. Her tests are all essay questions. Take her if you like a challenge.

Horrible professor. Power points are pointless to copy down because they are random words that describe what she's rambling about during class. Write down what she's saying more than the power point notes. Study a lot for tests and quizzes because those, the midterm, and final are all near impossible without precise details.

Worst Professor I've had so far. Endless notes take up classes each day. There's no text book she just dictates by powerpoint what she thinks is important. She opnely criticizes peoples papers in front of the class and makes fun of things students write on assignments and papers. Rude, Nasty, and Unapproachable. AVOID HER!
