She was thrown into a bad situation this semester with the scheduled professor having a heart attack. Having said that, much of the semester was disorganized with the lectures and there were frequent mistakes on the answer keys and notes. She was caring and helpful to her students. The tests were pretty straightforward and similar to practice tests

Comment:
The material is not explained well, nor does it correspond to the material in the textbook. All notes are written on the whiteboard, but there are frequent mistakes and the message gets lost between that and the corny jokes. The lectures are very disorganized. She is kind of enough to offer retakes, however.

Comment:
Her GTP class was very unorganized. Sometimes she did not do well at teaching her students primary concepts of the course, which led to the class as a whole failing her exam 2. She was kind enough to allow the class to retake the exam in the form of two quizzes; however, many students seemed to go into her exams "taking a shot in the dark."

Knows the material, but she just can't teach. Homework is 40% of the grade but is infinitely harder than the tests. Lecture didn't match the book at all, tests didn't match either. Corny jokes and examples, often tries and fails to stimulate working with classmates, who are just as confused as you are.

Recitations are important part. If you do the homework and quiz, everything shouldn't be too bad.

Lectures weren't terrible to sit through, the homework wasn't too hard if you took your time and did the reading, the tests were super easy if you went to recitation. Good class, easy A.

I would take another teacher if at all possible. Makes extremely corny examples. Only good thing is that recitation isn't mandatory if you do well on weekly quizzes. Homeworks are a pain, but they are worth 40% of your grade so if you do them well, you'll do well in the class. Only two exams the entire term. Take someone else if possible.

Probably worst professor I've had at Pitt yet. Homework takes well over 3 hours to do, and doesn't correlate to tests at all. Not willing to help when you go to her office hours or email her. Book is worthless and she is aware of it but doesn't care. When the entire class gets the homework incorrect laughs about it and says "oh well."

I got a lot out of this class. I was afraid coming in that there would be a bias to the class because you're obviously dealing with capitalism and she looks very crunchy granola, but she stuck to the facts very well. Maybe things have changed since I had her, but there were times when you could tell she wanted to add social commentary but didn't.

I took macro with her, really easy to cheat. uses the same test for all her classes and lets you keep the exam booklet. you can just get it from an earlier class and study before yours begins.

She never teaches the material that appears on the homework, which accounts for 40% of the grade. The tests aren't too bad, especially compared with the homework. I would suggest taking a different Intro. to Microeconomics prof.

This was a very difficult class and her examples in class HAVE NOTHING TO DO with the homework. So if you understand the class, be prepared to do badly on the homework. TA's also hardly talk English. Staying after class can help some, but tests are still next to impossible.

Wolfe is not a good prof. Although her lectures are interesting, you will find it hard to answer test questions with what you just hear in class. Also, the test questions are poorly worded. More importantly she does not hide her Liberal Democratic agenda. On the final she had a question that was based on a political cartoon making fun of Bush.

Comment:
First half of the semester is pretty easy. After that, it gets really difficult. Homework assignments are impossible. Lectures are interesting. Recitations are absolutely pointless--We learned how to graph a line about 6 times. I recommend having a study group, as she doesn't explain a lot of the concepts very well. Very difficult class, but doable
