I have Kathleen for Honors 211 and I seriously considered dropping the class because of her. She's incredibly disorganized and never knows what's due, and she's a really hard grader. I wrote a 6 page paper and got a C- on it only because of grammar. She praised me at the top for my "astute points and good support." DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANYTHING!!!!!

She is completely disorganized. There are assignments but you never feel like you fully understand what she was asking for. If I didnt have to have this class I would have dropped it

My hate for Bob Dylan firmly rooted because of her and this class. We listened to and analyzed his work so much I can't stand to even hear his voice. Her tangents that eat up time but make it standstill is infuriating. She then tries to cram the material she was supposed to teach in the last ten minutes and more making you late for your next class

This class was easy, but a bit boring to attend. She lectured on poetry some days, and a lot of days were spent presenting group projects (not difficult projects, reviewing poems). As someone who likes poetry I very much enjoyed the subject, not sure how you would feel if you never got into poetry. It may be worth a try, again, the class is simple.

About average honors preceptor, you don't have to talk a lot in class to get a good grade though.

This class is not as bad as some reviews say. There are weekly responses, but they are 2 pages, maximum, and she lets you write a poem instead of a paper if you want. She does review each line, but it is a poetry class. Lecture can be a little long. But sometimes she sings or plays videos. Several group projects that you never see the grades for.

Professor Ellis is one of the most boring professors I have ever had. Class seems to go on for hours. She goes off on tangents that usually lead to some crazy conclusion that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. She assigns responses weekly as well as quizzes. She asks the students to write poems and then critiques every line of them.

Kathleen Ellis is nice but, she's a little scatter brained and she gets off on tangents frequently. She gives a lot of homework and a lot of quizzes. The quizzes are easy and she goes over most of it right before you take it. There are several group projects. Her grading is a little strict and she expects a lot from her students.

This professor has a wonderful, creative spirit. She is very interesting and I like that her classes are structured around actually sharing information with students that is useful. She clearly has a lot of knowledge and depth. I would take any class with her. She is a big part of why I changed my major to English.

Very unclear on assignments as well as expectations. Was also very unhelpful when asked how to improve pieces of writing. Was also disrespectful to students while they were sharing their work.

She was an easy grader and friendly enough, but her class was dull and I didn't feel like I learned anything from it. She was also impossible to reach by e-mail and doesn't respond to them even if she reads them which was frustrating!

Professor Ellis makes class pointless and not worth going to. I volunteered for her Poets Speak event for a grade and she left us hanging once the show started. I brought my grandmother too and she never told if we could finally sit down. And she showed up late. She cringed and made faces when her students read poetry. Avoid this teacher if you can

Really interesting class, but we mostly copied other poems/short stories and such for our "creative" and "original" works. She's a technophobe I'm guessing; if you don't have an assignment tell her it was a tech problem and you'll get extended time. Assignments are almost always last minute, so be prepared to pump out a story/poem FAST.

Doesn't let students get a word in of their own in class. If they do she rips apart what they say normally. She seems to be religious oriented and if you don't write things her way your grade will suffer. Her grading is okay, but overall an avoidable teacher.

She looks like a witch, but she is really easy in ENG 205. Take it if possible with her. You have to read some poems, but besides that its a breeze.

She was on overall good teacher. She talked for a good portion of the class. She grades papers mostly on grammar and clarity. In the end, she turned out to be really nice and great to have conversations with one on one.

She doesn't seem to be fond of any options that aren't her own and takes over all discussions. It's easy to do well in her class but she completely tears all papers apart. It isn't uncommon for her to go in and change little things because she doesn't like certain words or phases and I've found many of her suggestions to be completely ridiculous.

Class was laid back and went by quickly. She is very interesting and teaches in an unbiased manner. Very flexible about deadlines, and worked very hard to grade all assignments fairly. A great introduction to intensive writing!

She seemed very much like she cared about us and wanted us to do well. However, she seemed to have little respect for our actual intellectual capabilities; assignments were trivial and were strongly reminiscent of middle school, especially papers. An easy grade if you go through the motions, though there is little incentive to do the work.
