If you are reading this, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take a class with this professor. She is all over the place, and sometimes has me wondering whether she makes up the information she's teaching or if it's legitimate. She is unclear about assignments and their due dates, and gives you quizzes on stuff you barely learned. STAY. AWAY.

O'Mara is highly educated in this field. I would say she should not be teaching an intro class. That being said, she has really sparked my interest in African history. If you don't see yourself as a student who can truly dedicate time, and put in effort to become interested, don't take this class. Otherwise, it's a great eye opening class

This is my least favorite class I've taken in my 3 years of attending college. I have a very hard time understanding what she's teaching because it's all over the place, she's very unorganized, If she writes on the chalk board you can barely read it because her hand writing is so bad and notes on the projector are crooked and aren't focused at all.

Tooo hard for a 100 level class. her lectures are all over the place. she is hard to understand. Unorganized. I got a B+ on what should have been an A paper. Terrible terrible teacher. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! she is nice though...just not a good teacher.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had since coming to Oneonta. she is unlcear about what she wants she goes on rants about things totally unrelated to the class and yelled at us for 30mins becasue a kid used the bathroom. Avoid at all costs. I wish I had listened, the only time my class ever talks is when we are bassing her. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!

This class is actually not too unbearable. She's a bit of a cynic, teaches and tries to push her own views, but the material isnt too bad. There's a paper every other week based on documents that are pretty mediocre and only one written test. The class is very unorganized though with no structure. Overall, pretty boring but not too hard.

first day of class I was completely lost - thats how the whole semester went. Took it thinking it would be an easy 100 level course...It is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. She knows her stuff but can't bring it down to an intro level at all. Unless you already know A LOT A LOT about Africa's hist....DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! u will cry.

Avoid her like the plague! She has absolutly no organizational skills and its a race just to keep up with her various overheads and powerpoints. She has a tendency to ramble in random arabic words and names without writing them down. Dont even think of having of meaningful discussion with her- she's never wrong and always has to have the last word.
