You read the book cover to cover, get ready for A LOT OF WORK. If you take this class online you have to post to discussion boards and the assignment dates change all the time. CHECK CANVAS REGULARLY for the date changes! She's available and encourages you to reach out if you have any questions which is great but overall I would suggest avoiding!

Her weekly text book quizzes are literally word-for-word statements from the book. Don't expect anything higher than an A-. Go to her office hours for help, don't waste time e-mailing as she is very vague electronically. You'll work your butt off, but every class after taking her will feel like a breeze. You WILL learn a lot! She is also very kind.

Worst professor at MSU. Does not teach and does not know how. She gives assignments with unclear expectation and direction. She gives grades based on how she feels about you and will not give constructive feedback. The ENTIRE class felt this way about her. Make sure to do the mountains of reading she assigns or you will not pass.

Gainor is hands down the worst professor I have ever encountered at MSU. Grades you as if you are a seasoned professional, not as a student trying to learn. Readings are absolutely mandatory or you will not pass. She does not lecture but expects to have a discussion. I will NEVER take her again.

I enjoy a structured learning style and Dr. Gainor was perfect for that. Though she did assign a good amount of homework, it is by no means unmanageable. However, do no plan on taking her course if you are taking four classes. She's compassionate and very funny... if she likes you. :)

Professor Gainor is very knowledgeable. She made the class relaxed (laid back), interesting, and enjoyable (made a few jokes now and then). She's also very understanding (gave some students extension on final paper). Buy the book because you're going to read from it every week.

She did not prepare the class to take her tests and nay failed, when one student fails it is their problem , when most fail it is the teachers problem.I never took her again and many friends feel the same way.

The WORST professor I've ever had. She didn't show for some classes, cancelled at least two, and never got work back to us. I never knew what to expect or what we were even supposed to be learning because of her absence. I didn't get anything out of this class AT ALL and could have learned much more studying the material on my own.

Blackboard utilized for communication, assignment scheduling & submission. Very poor communication (unclear expectations/rarely returns e-mails/give nonconstructive criticism), assignments were never returned on time, and high expectations for students were not AT ALL reciprocated by the professor's effort. Useless class to take with this professor

First had her for online Coun Resources. This course was a DISASTER! She literally disappeared and we completely missed one assign. Then I had her for Career. She was not always clear about what she wanted and we spent SOOO much time on theories and little time on application. I felt like she talked down to us. I hope to never have her again!

I took both Career and Techniques with Dr. Gainor and I think she is absolutely wonderful! She is a great teacher and very compassionate. There is a lot of work, but its so worth it!

This was easily the worst class I have ever taken. Despite what others have said on this website, I have not found her to be helpful OR compassionate with her students. The workload and expectations were so high, they made the material uninteresting. I can't recommend any more highly that you not take this professor.

Ok, because I learnd SOOO much in this class, I know to try to be unbiased. I learned so much, priceless. I have opened my mind to idea I never knew existed HOWEVER, WAY TOO MUCH WORK! Do not take this unless you plan on devoting your semester to it. There is no BS, no slacking, and it's so tedious. However, she is so intelligent

Gainor is a very good professor and a very kind person. She expects a lot from her students, but never more than she is willing to invest in them. Don't listen to people that trash talk her. She is excellent. You will get out of the course exactly what you put into it.

Gainor does not lecture. she expects you to read, understand, and discuss. the work load is severe and most students failed the tests. she is particular about the quality of papers and APA. she will help you if you ask for it. the group work is a pain. expect to do all the work
