A lot of people say Ryan is terrible but if you read the book and just do what she asks, it isn't that hard. She is very caring and if you simply go to her office and ask for help she is more than willing to give it to you. She does tend to jump around but psychology is a lot of information so what do you expect?Just read the book and take notes

She is the nicest person and I love her personality but as a professor, she is all over the place and skips around. Her exams are very heard and she grades very heard on lab projects.

Dr. Ryan is a sweet and funny lady, but not the best professor. She tends to rush into assignments without clearly going over what is expected, which is especially difficult in an intro class. Most assignments were vague, even after talking with her. You do need to read to book and take notes to pass.

Dr. Ryan is a good person, but not a good teacher. If you want to even try to understand, read the book. She expects you to read the book anyway. Book questions are on the test, even if she didn't talk about them in class. She is also a sex psychologist. If you get uncomfortable when old ladies talk about sex & sex positions, don't take this class.

Dr. Ryan is kind of crazy but fun. Her tests may be ridiculously hard but you will learn alot from her class if you pay attention. She is very weird about papers but she honestly wants to help you in any way possible. I would recommend her after you have a bit of a grasp on psychology so that if she can't help you, you can help yourself!

Ryan often can be the most supportive professor I have had and this is why I chose for her to be my advisor. She can be a little forgetful on what was assigned but comes to class prepared and engaged. She expects a lot out of her students making her tests very detailed. If you are willing to work, Psych of Women is a great self exploratory class.

I would not recommend taking her classes. Her lectures are enjoyable, but her exams are impossible. Mostly multiple choice questions and she asks random details from the book that weren't even discussed at all in class. And I don't think she even knows what she wants half of the time for papers. Asking her questions just ends up with more confusion

Doesn't tell you what she wants. Snaps at everyone. Will not listen to others views. If she doesn't believe it it's false. Don't understand how she rates participation. If you don't read the book you're screwed. Tests are impossibly hard. She is not helpful outside of class either

Fantastic teacher. Very funny, too. She's well-informed, and it always willing to help. Her tests are thought-provoking. In my opinion, one of the best teachers on campus. Take Dr. Ryan!

She is the most disorganized and useless professor in the department. We use the text book a lot, but the articles are outdated and often based on stereotypes, which are not real information. The way she grades and asks questions on her tests are also terrible. Don't take her class if you can avoid it.

I took Dr. Ryan 1st semester freshman year, and she is a spaz. If you are interested in Psy - and have a high work ethic - you'll do great! but if not - DONT TAKE HER! Also, she curves her tests so as long as you know more than anyone else in class.... you'll get hundreds every time! but there is a LOT of reading...

Had this class first semester freshman year, that was back in 2001, and I still tell people not to take a Ryan class if they are taking a Psych class. If you are an incoming freshman, or any other student that is going to take a Ryan class, DON'T!

Worst Prof at Lyco. Unorganized wingnut. She does have some interesting insights but her teaching style seems to jive with only a very few students in my experience in 3 of her classes. She used a lot of references to "Friends" episodes - if you don't watch it or don't like it you won't like her.
