Very straightforward instructor; do the homework & don't be dumb in class. Encourages discussion that helps quicken the pace of the class; quickest three-hours every week. Exam's not easy, but she's a fair grader and you know what to expect by the time you get there.

We call her SwedLAW instead of Swedlow. She is a very intelligent woman and I have no problem with her. She is very specific and tells you EXACTLY what she expects. Yes she is a bit tricky but legal issues in the real world will not be directly handed to you.

The class dynamic was great because there were a lot of discussions which made class more interesting. She is very clear and in her review gives a great power point recap of the semester. HOWEVER, the final focused on inchoate offenses and there was no murder in any of the essays. Exam defiantly caught me off guard.

The lectures were interesting and contrary to a lot of reviews on here she did not really ever call on anyone during class. The exam was brutal. I focused my studying on everything that was on the course syllabus and she mostly tested on conspiracy,accomplice liability, defenses and insanity. Essays looked nothing like the ones on the exam bank

Truly knows her stuff. Gives you all the info you need to be successful. The final is tough as nails, but if you know your stuff and can give it back to her in short concise answers you should do fine. practice her past exams starting in like week 7 or 8, regardless if have gone over all material that way you know what she is looking for on exam.

Pretty good professor. Exams are BRUTAL. She can be quite tricky. I put a decent effort in and got a B. Prolly could have done better if I had tried a little harder. wouldn't be my first choice, but not too bad..

She is incredibly intelligent, and knows her stuff. She will engrave the information in your heads by repitition, and will answer any questions you have without making you feel insignificant. She is always available for assistance. Her exam is fair, but her grading is tough, hence, 1ASwedlow. She makes you work for the A.

Knows her stuff, wants short concise answers. Willing to help when you need it. Good personality & easy to talk too. Too bad you ppl expect to be coddled & get a 3.0 simply for attending. - "Soccer mentality"-I should get a trophy for not being a winner -"get an A cause I tried really really hard :( -BS. Law School is meant to be hard - Darwinism!!

Gives you all the tools you need to be successful, including going out of her way to meet with you if you have questions. Most people are pissed at the grade they received and blame her for her grading style, but most likely forget the fact that it was them that took the exam and left the points on the table.

Had her for CrimLaw Fall '09 and CrimPro Summer '10 (I got an A in both). Excellent professor. I don't understand all the complaints. Law is hard, not easy. Don't expect ANY law class to be a walk in the park. Swedlow expects a lot from her students and thus demands a lot on her exams. However, she gives you EVERYTHING you need to get the A.

Repeatedly turns in students for plagerism and fails them. She's able to grade any way she feels like b/c she provides no standard for her grading in the syllabus or no allocation for how she gives points. She needs to have some kids and be happy and stop taking her frustation in life out on student's grades. AVOID HER & don't be deceived by her!!!

I dont know where the poster below is getting their information. She is not specific on what she wants on her exam. Ask anyone that took her in the Fall of 2009 for Criminal Law. She did not give credit for an OBVIOUS issue, and it was to the detriment of the entire class. She is absolutely unfair and deceptive.

Professor Swedlow is a great professor, in my opinion one of the most thorough, clear, and straight forward profs at Cooley. She knows her stuff and tells you what she wants to see on the exam. You MUST know the law like the back of your hand. She is not a hard grader, she is just very particular in what she wants to see on her exam. She leads you

Wow, she is starting to delete her bad comments, and write new ones, herself! No one at this school can stand this lady. She has done nothing to earn her position, but walks around with a sense of entitlement of a supreeme court justice. She is the hardest, and most unpredictable grader at cooley. The worst.

Pros: She is well prepared and offers numerous mediums for class information. Cons: her grading. I think she is too one dimensional in her grading approach. I will not take her again if I can help it. She does know her stuff though. But my GPA is more important to me.

I don't know how in the world someone in their 6th term is bashing a professor of a class they should have taken 3 term prior, unless 1. they're retaking the class, or 2 that's a good example of their motivation to learn, but Prof Swedlow is a God. If you can't get along with her, you might want to reconsider being an attorney.
