Comment:

Echoing what others said. He doesn't remember things he went over but demands too much. He gets angry easily and rarely praises anything even if it's deserving. My experience is that he ignores your emails or will rip into you for something benign. Can't recommend even though I did well.

Professor has no grasp on the course content (sound and sound design for film and tv), and stretches 20 minutes worth of material to fit the nearly 3 hour class. Gives absolutely ZERO class time to work on projects and expects everyone to use one of 2 computers with the mandatory program (pro tools).

Professor Brand is a bit underrated in my opinion. Yes the class is not that easy, but he explains the basics of the editing program and what is expected of the projects. My complaint is that he is very distracted and doesn't remember a lot of simple things outside the classroom. Also he is not one to say good job directly, but overall not bad.

It's a shame that Rowan insists we take a radio course and only gives us him to take it. Why can't it just be a film/tv major? I'm okay with hard classes but he was both unclear and demanding, making up the rules as we went along. Rowan, it's almost 2014, drop the radio requirement!

He is awful, doesnt explain how to use the editing program. Expects all work to be perfect and flawless, we never use the book. Good luck finding people who want you to record their voices. Alot of unneeded stress, he is very unhelpful

As an RTF major, and a man not interested in Radio, I find it very unfair I have to take a radio class. Some people feel Brand is a bit of a jerk, but he was very helpful with me. Although I can definitely see why people don't like him. If you want to get into radio this is a very good starting point. For a guy like me though, it was a chore.

Keith Brand is the man. He makes his class seem hard at the beginning. You will begin to understand how to use adobe audition after the first project. He expects your work to be top notch, so work hard and you'll do fine.

Yeah the class is challenging, but it's college. He gives you exact instructions on every project and couldn't be any clearer in what he wants. Follow his instructions and you'll be fine. He's always more than willing to help. Tests are a little hard because it covers so much material

Complete worthless as a teacher. He says he wants quality but he expects award-winning material. He's definitely comes off as a conceited jerk. I would say don't take him but unfortunately he is the only one who teaches the required class. If you can avoid him.

This class is required for RTF majors so I can't say don't take it. The material is just very complicated. It's hard to tell if Brand likes you or not. It's very hard not to screw up something on all of the projects since he only guides you and basically lets you figure it out for yourself. You have to spend a lot of time on this class.

Prof. Brand is kind of condescending to you until you prove yourself to him. The tests can be tricky, but the recording assignments can be very satisfying if you take them seriously. This class is required for RTF majors and ridiculously hard to get into so stay away if you're in another major.

Do not fear this class. Unless you are computer illiterate -it's easy. Just follow his directions precisely and you will get an A. He is a great professor and extremely helpful -provided you actually ask him for help. He is adament about deadlines and make sure you label everything. I really enjoyed the class and had fun doing the projects.

He's a very nice man. Loves to water his plants in class before he starts teaching! on a serious note, the class was labor intensive there is a lot that has to do with the projects that he assigns. one project i had to go out on the street, interview someone and then use special software to edit. pretty cool but a lot involved!!

Projects are ok if you like editing and getting sound. First three projects are very simple, then the third is kinda out of nowhere and takes a long time. He basically wont like anything you do, and if you ask for help with anything, he won't help. His lectures are ok. Not a bad class, kinda fun if you can get past him being an ass
