I must say that some of the comments are on point. She does have pretty high standards for the writing aspect which really surprised me. It is an asian class afterall. OMG? Are you serious about the bad commments? Prof Dirige is one cool teacher. People you need to relax cause unlike most other classes where you do alot of testing and such this class is pretty laid back. You need to be open minded in this class. I learned that as a minority you need to network regardless if your filipino or not cause I'm not.

The class was designed for Filipinos. As a non-filipino I felt like an outsider. Also, the class was really boring. The worst part of the class was the Reader. The Reader was full of personal OP-EDS and was only used for reference. Definitely recommend DO NOT take.

The class is boring. The reader is very expensive and it is a really bad read. You get the feelign that the class is designed for Filipinos only and even they have to read all this stuff that has nothing to do with the community. The class is boring and bad.

Easy class. 4 mini papers (3 pages), Research Paper (8 pages), Presentation (Group Presentation which is basically your research paper), one takehome midterm, one in class essay final based on class presentations, 6 extra credit assignments. All assignments are extremely easy. You can just Bull $h*t everything. Class is boring. Easy A

Class is based on assumptions and stereotyping of Filipinos, one of the worst classes I've taken. On the other hand the class is easy if you're good at writing essays. Four 3 page essays, one take home midterm consisting of three 3-4 page essays, and the final is 3 short essays.

This class is very BORING!!! she just reads straight from her transparancies! also she takes role and counts attendance as participation which is calculated into your grade! she is very biased and unaproachable! she is rude and very confused about life! this class was very disappointing mainly because of the dirige!

Simple class; there are course readers that are 'required'--but they are basically compliations of articles that are more like optional readings. Midterm is take home and there are a 4 short papers. Takes attendance in the middle of the class. Must present big group project and paper. Nice professor, but she doesnt make it interesting for students.

She reminds me of an "auntie" of mine. Do all the assigned papers and projects and you can get an "A". She was confusing at times, but if you have common sense, you can figure it out. Learned a lot about the Filipino American culture and gained insight on myself. Fun class!

An entertaining class; fun because of the students, not so much the professor. The class can get pretty out-of-control sometimes ~ it is hard to take much of the subject material seriously since everyone feels so lax *like with family? =P * The class really slants hard in favor of ethnic filipino students... too much "assumed references". =(

Great teacher! I had fun in her class, it wasn't too bad that she gave us papers every other week, what do you expect for a one week class? Other than that she's real easy! You can get by without buying anything for the class, just pay attention and do all the papers and you'll get the easiest A!The class was fun! Be lucky to get a class like this!

This class is really easy. Lots of mini-papers, but can be done in half hour to an hour at most. Although professor may seem unclear at times, she really is very knowledgable about subject and really taught me so much about filipino culture. she just takes some time to warm up to. if you're filipino, i HIGHLY recommend, this will be a breeze

really interested in the class at first, but her complete ignorance and lack of teaching skills made me hate the class toward the end. does not want to be questioned and is not clear about her grading. dont ask for clarification on things because you wont ever get a clear answer. unfortunate that this is all filams have at sdsu. worst prof ever!!!!
