This class was like taking 2 classes in 1. It was a lot of work in too short of time, and the group work aspects were the worst. It's a very doable class but it can get overwhelming with so many things due all at once.

I do not recommend taking this class unless you have a lot of free time. There's a lot more work than there needs to be. 5 exams, 15 chapter quizzes, 14 papers, 2 group papers, and a final exam. Tests are actually hard. You have to watch his lectures and all the guest presentations. It's just so much work. He's really nice though but so much work..

This is absolutely one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. It takes a lot of effort. Be prepared to work several hours each week on projects/homework. Grading is harsh. I will say that I learned a lot, and both Dr. Rice and the TA are willing to help outside of class.

Lectures can be a boring, but the class isn't terribly difficult. Going to class isn't necessary, but quite a few test questions come from things he said during lecture. Read the chapters. Don't waste your money on MyPsychLab, none of the test questions come from there. The final is all questions from old tests. Nice guy, gives lots of extra credit

Great prof! He makes the subject fun and interesting. make sure to go to class.. most test questions come directly from his lectures and he offers a lot of extra credit, so getting an A is not hard. great class and great prof. take clp 3144 with dr. rice!!

By far the hardest class I've had at UF. A lot of busy work and the point system is extremely tedious and harsh. He's a nice man with a sense of humor, but it is a rigorous course load and amount of stress (A LOT of it!) If you decide to take it, I'd recommend having a schedule that involves all other classes being very easy bc its time consuming!

I do not reccomend this class. You have to be an expert in research methods to understand any of his lectures, and he abuses the fact that is is an online class and gives you far more work thank you could ever do in a regular class. He can't even answer a simple question, I've never gotten a b and I'm getting a C-! Take it with someone else!

Whatever you do, DO NOT take lab methods with Dr. Rice! For your health and sanity and peace of mind do not do it. Never have I taken a class with so much stupid busy work and overall pointlessness. Besides which, the grading is overly harsh for the sheer amount of work that they are asking. WORST CLASS AT UF!

This can be a difficult class if you don't read and pay attention in class. His quizzes were a bit difficult even if you read the chapter because they were on small details rather then broad concepts. The test weren't that hard. But let's just say this class made me change from a psych major...

Dr. Rice was a very helpful professor. The tests were harder than anticipated, but if you read the notes & the book you should be fine. He genuinely cares about his students & allows plenty of extra credit opportunities.

I did not like this class at all! I was very interested in the subject going into it, but I am very happy I am no longer a psych major. The quizzes are super detailed and even if you take tons of notes while reading the chapter they are tricky. Gives extra credit quizzes randomly but that was about the only good thing.

He is the worst online professor I've ever had. His class is an e-learning scavenger hunt. His directions are extremely unclear and pretty much useless. He also does not provide any feedback with regards to why he took points off on assignments. He truly expects you to be able to read his mind.

Abnormal with Dr.Rice is not as easy as I though it was going to be, he changes test dates and only announces in class the day before and I have no idea where from the readings he pulls his test questions, I would recommend taking this class with Dr.Locker if possible!

If you have to take research methods then take it with Dr. Rice! I took the class during Summer A and we had a test each week. You HAVE to read every chapter and although attending class isn't mandatory you need to go because a lot of what he lectures on is on the test. There is not a curve but he offers some extra credit for coming to class.

Amazing professor, incredibly nice and helpful! Some people aren't used to his kind of dry humor, but he's very sweet and wants his students to learn. Don't expect the course to be easy - it's a challenge, but it's worth it. As a psych major, this is the only class I've actually retained info from! Dr. Rice is really fun and intelligent! :)

Dr. Rice is so nice and helpful. His tests aren't that bad and he gives a lot of extra credit. You HAVE to read the book and the additional articles he assigns. All Psych majors should take this class with him and not Dr. Howland!

i thought the class was VERY easy. makes it a point to cover all reading material on the exams. F.e, he'd ask that you read a journal article along with the book and so he WILL put test q's from the article. Usually asking something you would get correct by reading the abstract. read the book and glance over his notes. Grades papers easily too.

Nice man but the class sucked. You have to be able to put up with dry humor though, otherwise he can sound like an ass. DON'T take the class once a week, try doing it MWF bc there's a lot of info to cover and I had a really hard time handling 3 hrs in the evening. The tests are mult. choice and a lil. confusing so study hard.

HE IS SO NICE! The class, however, is BORING. Not his fault, research methods is just a boring subject. If you're a psych major and have to take the class, definitly take it with him. If you aren't a psych major and need a lab, don't take this class! Regardless, he is one of the nicest professors I've had thus far.
