Comment:

His teaching style is an acquired taste. I never once got used to him throughout the year. For a simple class like MAT114, the class should not have been taught at such a complex level. A friend took another professor and said the course was too easy.

Comment:

Professor Carlin is such a funny and great guy. However, his teaching method is an acquired taste. For such a basic level class, the math does not have to be taught to the extreme that it was. The majority of the class struggled, and it was far harder than a 114 math class should have been. However, he is very accessible for extra help.

He's such a sweet heart and a great guy but, his jokes get in the way of your learning. He is very dorky and has a lot of dad jokes but they are not funny even in a dad joke sense. A lot of people in the class make fun of him and he does not get that they are laughing at him not with him. He grades on a curve and drops lowest quiz grade

You have to adjust to his way of teaching. Everything is scaled so you can fail a test and still get above a B. Tells you exactly whats on quizzes/tests. I wouldn't mind taking him again because I am a math major but he moves a little fast if you have trouble understanding math.

Carlin taught my calc class as if everyone in the class had already taken calc, and was taking it again. Mind you, I had never even taken pre-calc. as you could assume, I failed the class, regardless of my daily visits to his office and getting extra help from tutors. 0/10, will never take him again.

I love this man! Honestly the easiest math class I've ever taken. I loved that he scaled all tests and quizzes and overall I felt like his grading system was very fair. Attending class is key! He's always eager to help, and really wants you to come to office hours if necessary. Plus, he's funny (though his humor can be kind of dry, he tries!)

Professor Carlin was a great professor. He scaled all tests/quizzes. He does assign homework every class but it isn't due until the end of the semester. We go over problems in class that you don't understand. He does have dry humor and can be confusing at times but I still enjoyed him.

Kevin Carlin is a great professor if you are really into math, and will be moving onto higher levels, however, if you are taking him as a requirement, he is terrible. He does not explain concepts well. I went to a tutor weekly and he would say that my tutor is wrong. He has to scale grades by at least 30 points, which should tell him something.

This was the worst class I've ever taken. I get straight As and Bs. I learned Very little in class. I had to go to his office hours almost every day to learn with him one on one. He goes over problems but refuses to slow down in class so we can keep up (someone asked, he told them no). Also he makes consistent "jokes" that insult your intelligence

He is really an awesome person and teaches well, but in his own way for this course. By that I mean he used the book for hw but follows many of his own ways to find answers and he is sometimes hard to understand. The class didn't work for me because I needed to go to his office hours but didn't have time, but other than that he's a good professor.

Professor Carlin is my favorite professor at Assumption. He scales everything and is always willing to help everyone. His quizzes are one or two questions and you always know what to expect on the quizzes and exams because he goes over everything beforehand. He's also funny sometimes. I wish I could take another class with him! Love him.

Prof. Carlin teaches very differently, so I was overwhelmed at first but have learned to love his classes. Homework isn't handed in until the end of the semester, so it's easy to fall behind. Class can be confusing because he moves very quickly but he will explain it all in office hours. Tests are always graded on a curve.

Oh, Crazy Carlin. This guys is actually really cool once you get past the first week. Class was pretty easy because I had a background in calculus. Those who didn't struggled. He has dry humor, but it can be really funny. Grades quizzes pretty hard, but he scales his grades. Really easy to get a B in the class.

at first I hated everything about carlin but once i began to go to his office hours and make the effort to get help i began to get better grades. He is extremely helpful so if you are willing to go to his office hours and do the homework when it is assigned so you can ask questions in class or at office hours you will definitely do well.
