Jazz History. Fun class, very knowledgeable guy. No textbook. Take good notes. Tests are a giant game of "name that tune." Class is a refreshing break in my schedule. I actually don't mind going on a Friday afternoon.

If you're in an ensemble with him, you need to practice! Also, I have him for jazz improv, and he gets very upset if you show up unprepared. He's very forgiving, and there is nobody more interested in making sure their students learn. Even though he runs ensembles, the student's experience comes first, before he badgers you for playing things right

Probably one of the easiest/most fun professors I've had at KU so far. We didn't use a book, just took notes in class. Participate in class, he likes that. I wasn't really into music before I took the class, but it was really interesting and I learned a lot in that class. I would definitely recommend taking him.

Great class! Go to class everyday and take decent notes and you'll have no problem getting an A. Interesting and keeps your attention the whole time! I wasn't interested in Music at all but he made the class worthwhile! :)

Probably my favorite teacher I've ever had. Changed my idea of music and made me actually enjoy it. Makes the class enjoyable by not talking about music the whole time and will change topics yet when he does talk about the actual topics, makes it enjoyable. Definetly take him.

He's really easy, but you won't learn much about music. He lectures on everything EXCEPT for music and hardly every PLAYS music. Won't get much from this class except for an easy A. Wish I got something more for my time and money...

ok, i never had an easier class. He gives all the questions and answers to the class before the test..and i had no idea about back or motzart or music before takin this class..and trust me, you would have to be a real idiot not to get 100 percent..i took the final in 3 minuts and got a 109 percent.
