Respected prof and is passionate about the subject. He sets out time for individual appts to help you with your essays. A normal day in class is a discussion of the assigned text. Lots of reading and pop quizzes on either the content or vocab. I learned a lot from this class and my writing improved. He responds quickly to emails if you need help.

Dr. OBrien himself is a very good professor. He is a good guy, straightforward, and pretty funny here and there as a professor. As far as the CLASS is concerned, Ill say this: if youre good with numbers, loaded definitions, and have a good memory, then take the class. If youre a dummy like me and am not good with any of that, good luck.

Easy A! Just show up to class, pay attention, and you'll get an A. This class really helped me understand the basics of economics. Oh and don't buy the book.

I'm not really an economics kinda person, but Dr. O'Brien actually made me pretty interested in it. He's funny, intelligent, and really knowledgable about subject (duh). I never really read the textbook, but I definitely recommend not skipping his classes. He gave us handouts to study with, but he explains everything more clearly in his lectures.

Dr. O'Brien runs his intro to econ class in a very simple format: he gives his boiled down notes notes of the chapter, and he expects you memorize maybe ten pages of them and then take a test over them. The class is very easy and straightforward. He's a funnier guy than he let's on. He's a professor you could have a conversation with.

For Econ 100 it was all lectures and you only take 4 exams and that's it. Extremely easy class he has handouts and he posts them online, so really don't even need to go to class. Don't get the textbook because everything on the handouts is on the exams and he barely even follows it anyway. Good teacher, but you will fall asleep at least once.

It's Intro to Economics. It's an easy class with easy material. It would be difficult to find a professor who made this stuff hard. Dr. O'Brien did a great job explaining concepts and giving out plenty of notes for his exams, which were all fairly easy and straightforward.

He gives handouts on the chapter and that's all the test will cover. He spends the hour reading and explaining the handout clearly and in depth, so paying attention is really helpful. However, if you simply study the handouts on your own, you can get the same effects. He can be dry, but he also cracks some sarcastic jokes that help liven it up.

Copy his notes word-for-word and memorize them. That's how you succeed in his class. It wasn't hard, but I never felt like I was learning. He's a hilarious guy though. As long as you go to class and take good notes, you won't need the book.

The class is a little dry. But if you show up to class, he usually has a few good jokes throughout the hour. Tests are not bad, and he curves the class grade at the end of the semester.

Went to class and checked fantasy football the entire time. Studied the handouts that he puts online (so you don't need to go to class) before each test and I have an A in the course. This is a great class to take.

Guy was really interesting. Yeah, sure, has a monotone speaking voice, but what he has to say really helps. All material is located on his handouts so book is not necessary. I'd recommend going to class even though people say you don't because he has examples that pertain to the test. Willing to use you brain A LITTLE bit, then take this course.

I had a 4.0 until I took economics 100. It is almost impossible to study enough for one of his tests. The questions are very tricky and wordy. Class is boring and taught in a manner that the BU Education Department teaches us not to do. It is really annoying that I was forced to take a class that has no relevance to my degree that lowered my GPA.

Most of his info was on the hand-outs that he provided in class and online. Class was worth going to because of his real world examples that helped for understanding the material. Tests were somewhat tricky with the wording of questions, but overall not that bad. Study sessions were very useful but does not have tests in the test bank to study.

Tests are hard. Try to find old tests to figure out what to expect and some of the stuff is the same. Only 3 tests...that is your whole grade. Study your life away for all 3 and its not too bad, but the 3 tests are hard...

Super boring class, but if you show up and take the notes, it's word for word what's on the tests. If you look at an old test, it's pretty much the opposite of what he'll ask on the next one. Really nice guy and has an awesome witty humor!
