SLOANE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER. You will completely relearn how to draw in this class which freaks some people out, trust me it will be worth it. If in doubt add a cephalopod to your drawing! tapoafom!

You won't learn technical drawing and how to make things look extremely realistic, but Kim is wonderful. He is about the concepts. He appreciates your work as long as he can see that you put time into it and attempted the techniques he taught. And he really loves his students.

Totally bro dude! Silly and funny in an old guy kinda way. Very intense guy at first, but it's just his humor! He brought us doughnuts once, and a cake for a birthday in the class. Very clear instructions, a slow-paced class compared to the others, but the assignments remain a decent level of challenging. Not too much homework either! A+ guy!

A great guy with a sense of humor. He understands that not everyone is a drawing major. He is understanding as long as you try on his assignments. He doesn't give harsh critiques, in a good way. If something isn't perfect, he doesn't rip your work apart. The assignments can be time consuming, but he doesn't give you a hard time.

the best teacher ive had in foundation year. people less interested in fine arts or drawing figuratively may not like this class but being able to draw just simply feelings and emotions in my opinion is essential to all types of art. you can't cruise by this class but the work load is reasonable and his directions and critiques are at least clear

whether you understand his methods or like it or feel like you will be using it (you will be) this class is tremendously helpful for everyone in any field of design or art. he doesn't teach you how to draw he teaches you how to draw emotion, feeling, life. be open to new concepts. work hard. be free outside your comfort zone.

He is so much fun and I've learned a lot more than I even noticed looking back. At first I thought the string balls and springs were wastes of time, but as the semester progressed, I began noticing, when I drew on my free time, how much I had improved. Amazing class

Kim Sloane is awesome. He's very reasonable, and his teaching methods are very logical, unlike a large amount of Drawing teachers I know. If you put the proper amount of effort into your work and show up for class on time, you should be golden. I highly recommend him to any foundation student.

Fun guy. I used to hate doing string balls and spirals, but he's all about the volume. You will do a lot less of those after the first 3 months when you "draw for real". He doesn't inflate the grades. Make sure that you put an effort in the class.

Good teacher, although other classes are doing things that seem more fun, the atomic stringballs, and springs end up coming in handy. A lot of our work is technical stuff, but that's what foundations about. Style always comes later.

I got a high grade in this class but I figured out at the end of the year that the class's ability to draw from life--figure and anything else was way behind the other classes, We got lots of 'cool' projects, but never improved. Wish I had transferred out. Yeah, he is nice, and 'funny', but so what. DISAPPOINTING.

after taking this class and looking at other class' work, i'd say we did miss out. we spend the first semester drawing tornadoes and atomic-string-balls and abstract floating shapes. we don't really get to draw the figure AS a figure until the end of 2nd semester.... but he's a likable teacher

You will do a lot of stuff that doesn't help, although from the way Kim talks it sounds like it should. We are way behind in the figure. Schema, anyone?I am disappointed in this class. It's obvious from looking at other class's work that we missed out on a lot.

He's a nice guy, high energy but too repetitive and seems to be trying too hard in the wrong way. I wouldn't mind it if he were calmer and less intent on entertaining.
