Overeliant on Ted talks/external teaching sources, lecture content is not relevant or related to textbook material or reteaches the topic that previous homework was based on, goes of topic by talking about gender equality issues. Isnt coherent regarding work in/out of class. Treats 30 person lecture like there are 200 people but Shes a nice lady.

Comment:

This class was a waste of time with Dr. Smirles. I did not take anything away from this class let alone learn any valuable information. As an introductory psychology class, it should be significantly clearer and much more fairly graded. Her exams were poorly worded and she was also not very helpful in answering questions in class and office hours.

Smirles is an amazing professor. She actually enjoys what she teaches which makes her class very pleasant. I totally recommend!

Loved this class, and Dr. Smirles! She was helpful, funny, interesting, and was extremely knowledgable. If you don't like to put time in outside of class, she is not the professor for you. The lectures are online and very important, and there is one online quiz a week. (Which are pretty helpful to your grade if you take your time and try hard.)

Dr. Smirles seems rough at the begging. I was scared to approach her until I got a bad grade on one of her tests(they are hard.. be prepared). You wont be noticeable to her unless YOU GO TALK to her, she will see that you have interest and will help you as much as she can.

Second to worst Professor I've had at Emmanuel. Was not clear in any of her lessons. Did not care about her students nor did she make any real effort towards their success. Avoid Methods and Statistics with her especially. Overall very rude and careless

I took social psych. She's an incredible professor. She makes hard tests, but she's very fair. Read/listen/study! If I had an opportunity to take another class with her, I would. She's very helpful and approachable and her classes are SO interesting. She uses great documentaries that increase your understanding. LOVE her! Highly recommend her.

Great teacher. She is incredibly intelligent, and answers any question more clearly than any other professor I have ever had. Very willing to help you out, and she drops the lowest test grade. If you take all the notes and study them hard, you will do well. We watched alot of fun documentaries and movies that helped teach concepts well.

Awesome prof with an amazing sense of humor and knowledge of the subject at hand. She is able to translate her lectures to an audience of various levels and maintain the interest of all.
