Professor and all of his helpers are practically worthless. Spends majority of lecture time showing demos instead of actually teaching students. Questions on exams differ from course material. Wants you to think against instinct and as to a "what if" sense of mind.

The only complaint I have about Dr. J is his lectures aren't that great. His tests are tough but do the Mastering Physics HW and participate in class and you will be fine. Go to his office hours to get help when you need it because he is very helpful in that respect. Overall I do really like Dr. J.

Not a bad professor. If you need help go to his office hours because his test are tough. On the multiple choice part of the exams don't second guess yourself. The grading scale is not the same as other classes which is great. Expect to work hard and you should do very well in this class.

Dr. J is a baller at physics. Probably the smartest professor I've had. He gives extremely hard tests, without curving them. He assigns HW much harder than the stuff in class. He is pretty nice and is always willing to help. His shoes never match his outfit which is pretty amusing.

Dr. Jackson is a very nice guy, and I believe he truly wants us to learn Physics. His tests are HARD. multiple choice questions are tricky. Example: 110 students on final exam scored a 6/12 average. He goes too much in depth and the concepts are extremely hard. I have a hard time at mathematics, and I had a hard time memorizing all the formulas.

Jackson was great. He let you use a notecard for each exams, so you don't have to worry about memorizing any formulas. Each exam is 12-15 multiple choice questions. He curves so that the average is a C+ in the end. Our average right now is around 60%. Really great guy and pretty interesting. Definitely recommend.

Dr. Jackson is great! Take the time to go to his office hours and get to know him because he actually cares about his students. He was extremely helpful every time I went to him for help. Physics is a hard subject, so there is no getting around the hardness of the content. You really need to just study about a week in advance and you should be ok!

Seriously, I had no interest in Physics before.....and still have ZERO after this course.....he's hard for a 100 level course, I'd avoid him if at all possible...his test are nothing like examples and he'll change ONE little word to twist everything!

Physics is one of those subjects that you either get or you don't. For me, it was hard but Dr. Jackson is a great prof! Hes very helpful and lets you have a note card on the tests for formulas or whatever. Tests are hard but if you do homework and practice test problems, you should be ok.

Probably one of the best physics professors at CMU. I was so scared to take physics that I put it off until my sneior year. Although you have to study, Dr. Jackson makes it painless, and if you're taking the MCATS or the GRE, you'll know your stuff.
