Comment:

Lord, has the most boring attitude and style and voice I have ever heard. The lecture slideshows are 75-95 slides with multiple paragraphs on every page. The exams and even quizzes have super long reviews, she expects you to remember everything class for a 50-minute midterm. DON'T TAKE UNLESS YOU NEED TO.

Comment:

Dr Lord gets a bit of an undeserved rep here. Her lectures are far from the best, yes, but she gives multiple chances at extra credit in very easy forms and all her slides are accessible online. It helps that she is easily one of the nicest profs you'll meet here, and very understanding. Not the best prof at Laurier, but far from the worst.

Comment:

Kristen's exams are based off of a lot of material. But if you study for them, you can definitely do well. She gives so many opportunities for extra credit. I received grades above 100% more than once. Most of the textbooks were not necessary and I did fine without them, but one DEFINITELY was needed.

If you have this prof, only go to the lectures whenever it's a quiz or a midterm. All she does is read off of slides that she doesn't post half the time. She frequently goes off topic to anything from her cats to her house mortgage. I haven't learn anything this semester. The best way to pass is by studying the text book pages she emails you.

She would put three large paragraphs worth of writing in her slides and then give you 30 seconds to copy it all. It doesn't help you get information either when she says she will post the slides online 5-7 AFTER the lecture and she laughs and says she usually only posts about 60% of them. Get out of the class, shes very off topic as well. Flee.

Dr. Lord is a great, very helpful person, but one of the worst profs ever. Her lectures were long, boring, and maybe 5 people showed up. If she wasn't off topic, she was reading the slides. A good lady but definitely not meant to be a teacher. I would avoid taking her class.

Dr. Lord is a very understanding professor. Her syllabus stated that she didn't accept late work, but she offers extensions if it's asked her yet she still allowed the class to hand in late work anyway during the stress of finals! She's a little dry in lecture because she reads off the slide and posts them but attendance isn't really necessary.

Lectures are very dull and of a class of nearly 200 students, we were lucky if 20 students showed up. No one cared about what was being said and the prof did not make the content engaging what so ever.

Dr Lord is a nice woman but is the worst prof I have had at WLU. She goes off topic way more times than is acceptable, she rants about things that don't matter to course material such as cats or naming cats or her troubles getting pregnant, and is not clear about assignment requirements or expectations. Id suggest not taking her classes.

Dr. Lord is an extremely nice person(as every other comment states) but she is not a great professor. She loves her students and wants everyone to do well...but she just isn't great at getting the point across. I wouldn't recommend a language course with her.

Super sweet lady, and super smart... but she can't teach what she knows. She will do everything and anything to help you out and make you pass, but no matter what, you won't be able to learn from her lectures. Advice: if you have Lord, make sure you buy the textbook. It'll save your soul if you actually need and want to take the course.

She's very odd, I've never laughed so much in my life just because of the things she says that she thinks are serious, but I didn't actually learn much - she tries really hard to make you understand, but she just ends up being more confusing. Interesting course, but overall the lectures were unrelated to anything we were tested on. Also there was a lot of emphasis on language despite it being a history course. Helpful when asked, but tended to make things sound more difficult than they actually are.

Excellent prof. Yes, she'll go off topic, but she marks incredibly easily, and she goes out of her way to help students. I would recommend in all circumstances. Just doing the homework and keeping up basically guarantees and A.
