Comment:
The expectations for Rattan's tests were reasonable. However, he gives very little room for partial credit. One simple mistake could cost you two letter grades. He his very rude in office hours and will not explain something if he as already lectured over the topic, even if only a week has pasted. Don't expect to get help outside of class

Went to his office hours and told me that he wouldnt go over things again because I should have understood from lecture. Said it was our fault we all failed the first exam. Knows his stuff but moves way too quickly for an intro engineering course. Accent is heavy and he only does problems on the board, doesnt explain them very well

Dr. Rattan is dedicated to education and is one of the few professors who truly cares about what he is doing and was my favorite professor. Sometimes he is unclear about what is needed, but he always strives to be as fair as possible. I think that he might retire soon, and it will be a shame when he does.

Having graduated & worked as a design engineer/inventor for a number of years, I can attest to the usefulness of Dr. Rattan's classes. He was relevant, interesting, and thoroughly prepared me for my job. Demanding but fair, he explained things 3 or 4 different ways until we understood. Time spent for his classes has repaid me a thousandfold.

Dr. Rattan is an excellent professor. I have had him for several classes and he always strives to actually teach. That being said, he is not easy, although the sexiness of his beard will keep tempting you back into class.

There is a difference between a teacher and a professor and he is a teacher. He is genuinely interested in the success of his students. He is my Thesis adviser as well; excellent.

When this dude walked in the room the first time i was so nervous as to how the quarter would have ended.EGR 101 was the first exposure to calc for me,and he made it pretty easy i think. He cares alot about his students. He will expect you to work hard, but thats a given.takes a week or so before you can understand his english but not as bad as some.

Terrible! Very hard to understand and moves WAY to fast. Grades extremely rough. He may be better for higher level course but expects way to much for an intro course.

A great teacher who really understands and feels the need of the students. He asks question at the beginning of every class and be sure to let him know if he is going to fast or not. I had him for more than 2 classes and he always has his own notes which kinda follow the book but read both. He knows his stuff, definitely one of the best at WSU

Really really great teacher for intro to engineering. Funny, smart and dashingly good looking. A little bit of an accent but nothing too bad. He likes to make sure the class understands what he taught before he moves on. Tests are exactly like the homework. You also get cheat sheets on them. Definitely take him, fun class.

He is very smart and knows his stuff. You need some calculus knowledge before taking this class even though it i not a prereq. the exams are straightforward and like the examples and homework problems so if you pay attention and study you will pass.

First off, his accent is VERY thick. Takes a few days to adjust.Secondly, he explains things given in the problem WAY to much and confuses you. Plus makes problems more difficult than need to be. More is learnt in recitation and office hours. HE also assumes u have some calc knowledge and doesnt explain trig well.Hes very nice and willing to help
