Lectures rarely made any sense at all. I had to learn from the book and was greatly helped by taking BVPs concurrently. He frequently gets mixed up, and you have to confer with the other students to confirm that he's wrong. Make sure you start the homework long before it's due. If you go to his office he tries to recruit you for his lab and MQPs.

Only take quantum with him if you already know quantum. It often took several lectures before he explained the point behind the sprawling derivations he would cover the board with, and he did not actually define all of the notations introduced in the course. I had to teach myself far too much of this course. Run. Run like Cthulhu is chasing you.

Very willing to invest time in individuals. He's tough and moves fast, but knows what he's talking about. He's helpful and will explain things from the ground up. Excellent project advisor.
