He is SO passionate about the topics discussed and is gifted at painting a picture of history that u will more likely remember. He gives a midterm and a final, no other assignments. They are graded heavy, and consist of memorizing information, and rewriting it in a BlueBook. He gives u choices during the exam which is always nice tho! Love him!

Professor Fields is a real gem! He is knowledgeable and passionate about Asian history. Students are graded on the mid-term, a research paper (11-15 pages), and a final. He gives you keywords and essay questions at the beginning of the quarter which will be your test questions. Just regurgitate what he presents in class on the tests.

Professor Fields is such a phenomenal teacher! I am a European history major and after taking Professor Fields I seriously considered switching to Asian history. That means a lot. His lectures were always interesting and I wanted to go to class because of this fact. Such a great professor and a great guy. Too bad he is mostly retired. :)

Absolute best professor that I ever had. I loved all of his classes. If I ever missed a class I was sorry because I wanted to learn the material. He is a very gifted teacher and a great guy. I was certainly blessed to have taken 3 of his courses.

If you were lucky enough to take Dr. Fields then you have been blessed. All professors should aspire to be like him. Great lecture, personality, his care for the students, he was culturally enriched, and just a nice guy all around. Not the easiest but he was THE BEST professor HANDS DOWN. You are missed Dr. Fields.

Dr. Fields was one of the best teachers I had at CSUSB. His class was interesting and even though he was tough, as long as you showed up and took good notes, you would do well on the tests. There was no reading at all so if you missed a class, you were pretty much screwed. Excellent professor!

Great professor. Very clear. Sets a fast pace, but reviews well. My most enjoyed hist class at CSUSB so far. But he only teaches 1 qrtr a year, so make sure you get in.

I had the pleasure and luck of having Dr. Fields for two of my History classes and I have to say just how much I respect this professor. More importanly as a person, amazing patience, wonderful teacher, he has such passion and love for what he does and I feel like my life is better because of his teachings. Take him if you get the chance!
