Comment:

Dr. Bernard is a great professor. He has many years of experience as a sex and relationship counselor, which absolutely qualifies him to teach a class on Human Sexual Behavior. He knows the material in depth and the materials itself is very interesting. He doesn't censor anything - be prepared for some raunchy (but informative) videos.

He really pushes you to put your best work. Also, he's kind of intimidating. Class assignments are not that bad and he doesn't grade them too hard, but he will definitely have you explain your answers to the class so make sure you know your stuff

Class consisted of 3 tests (including final) and 2 papers, that's it. The tests REQUIRE studying. If you do not study you will bomb the tests. This includes reading the textbook, as he pulls information from there that he did not lecture on. The papers are difficult as they require intensive research on a disorder. Highly interesting class though.

Took this class last year. Awesome professor. Understands that stat is not used a lot nowadays because of programs such as SPSS. Very knowledgable and emails his lecture slides. His tests have vocabulary and written portion.

Comment:

Bernard is my favorite person and definitely my favorite professor. His classes are, yes, quite challenging, but if you do the readings and study the notes before the tests you will be fine. He is the smartest professor at LMU (I would argue and many others would too). You'll learn things from him that no one else could teach you.

Lectures do not follow the material on the tests or quizzes. No homework sounds appealing, but the impossible quizzes make up 40% of your grade, and you have to teach yourself everything. Avoid if you don't want a C or D contributing to your next semester's GPA.

Dr. Bernard is genuine, but he is also ambiguous with every assignment. It's hard to tell what he is asking you to do, and even when you ask him, he somehow makes it unclear. A relatively easy grader, but I thought this sport psych class was going to be a lot more interesting than meditation and his obsession with Dachshunds.

I loved Prof Bernard. He answers all of your questions and explains well. His test are a bit hard, 50 questions from lecture, 50 questions from book, and 5 short questions... I liked him and would definitely take him again!

Bernard is a really nice guy but his tests are very hard. My biggest complaint is that he puts things on the tests that are very minor things from the book that I would always end up thinking were unnecessary to know. I didn't like his philosophy that if you have a C then you're doing ok. If there is another teacher that you know of, try them.

Great professor, great class. Human Sexuality was very interesting and the first time ever offered. He's very knowledgeable and the lectures are entertaining. Typical upperdivision - lots of reading, somewhat difficult tests, but use the CD in the book and study lots. Still a great and interesting class.

Tests are ridiculous. He actually told me that he puts material on the test that is not in the notes or in the book. He suggests for you to drop the class before helping you. Take it if you want a C or D
