Comment:

Prof Newcomer was a great teacher. One of his biggest strength was that he was super organized and very helpful (via email since class was online). The course material was organized so well that it was easy to read and interpret. No tests but Quizzes every week and a final project. Work hard and you'll definitely get an A.

Comment:

Basically You Take quizzes every week online. All the material in his class are from IST 230 even though its a CMPSC 360 class. This class is very fair not easy and don't take anything easily. He is very straightforward and his grading is tough. I took him because it was online and I managed to get decent grades. You will need to spend time to pass

Comment:

Pros: content was really well organized and the actual lessons were very clear. Cons: Incredibly condescending through "instructor's rants" at the beginning of each lesson, aka walls of text that you scrolled past in order to get to the content. Spent more time telling us how vital the material is in life (spoiler: it isn't) than actually teaching.

Newcomer had a lot of repetitive instructions and rants. He focused on why students need to take IST230 instead of making the material interesting. There’s little to no interaction between classmates or Newcomer. When I did email Newcomer he was condescending in his response. On the plus side there wasn’t a group project.

Worst professor ever, hands down. Absolutely terrible. Extremely difficult for no reason at all. His grading style is set up to allow him to pass who he wants, and fail who he wants. Emailed reminders of the drop date to us continuously as if to brag that not everyone could cut it. Prides himself on making students take the course twice.

I can't believe I learned so much without ever being stressed out. The quizzes and tests aren't timed nor do they have to be completed in one sitting. His online content is well written and very relevant to IST. I was so scared going into this class but it was fairly easy and very informative.

Great Teacher, always makes himself available to help students. He knows his stuff unlike anyone I've seen. Classes get tougher as you progress through IST so more work and study is needed to pass his classes. Overall, a very good teacher.
