I had Seese for cost accounting in grad school. He told me I wasnt cut out for accounting and I should drop out and do something else. So glad I didnt listen to him. I went on to finish the MSA program, easily passed the CPA exam, worked for a big 4 firm and another fortune 300 company in Management roles and Im very successful now :)

Comment:

Dr Seese was the best accounting teacher at ECU. While he didn't "give" you the test in his class like some others, I had to study but knew how to answer a problem, no matter which piece of information was missing..unlike some other profs that give you the exact same question on the test as their example in class...you learn nothing that way.

Dr. Seese has left ECU for ODU. He is probably the most difficult teacher I have ever had. It is possible to earn an A in his class, but be prepared to work hard for it. Many of his examples include the automotive industry (where he once worked) and food- he eats the oddest things.

Did this guy move to VA to teach at ODU. I'm planning to take 2 of his classes this semester. 301 and 311 Intermediate and Managerial Accounting. I usually take these rating things with a grain of salt, but I'm curious if this is the same guy who's now teaching at Old Dominion University in Norfolk VA. If anyone knows, let me know please.

I have never in my life been a jealous person. Whoever student that got through cost accounting without taking Dr. Seese, I am jealous of. I studied for hours and still dad bad on his extremely unpredictable tests.

Dr. Seese made me despise him and accounting. He doesn't explain anything in class he only does problems from the book, but the quizzes and test are nothing like what's in the book. So how should we know how to do it? He is also very intimidating, which makes it hard to ask questions. Not a good professor AT ALL!

He is by FAR the WORST professor I have ever had. This man is insane. He has a way of putting down the class that will just ruin your whole day. After taking his class my aspiration for becoming an accountant is gone. I am switching my major thanks to Dr. Seese.

I wish he wern't tenured. Then maybe there'd be hope that his teaching skills would improve. Come to class, and study hard and he'll probably pass you. Do all that and become an officer in his club, you may have a chance at a decent grade. He'll expect the most crazy things on tests, and plays favorites.

He is a good 'pick' because his lectures correspond to the tests and quizzes. The quizzes are not weighted highly but are very helpful in terms of improving (he goes over them all in detail) and because they all show up on the tests. If you study your quizzes and read the book's chapter at *least* once it's a fairly easy A or easy B.

This class (Cost Accounting) is hard, and he is the only professor for it. He has his GA do tutoring sessions but i don't know how much they helped. The tests are not worded or set up the same as in class so you have to know the process on how to do the work. When he says a topic will show up on a test/final it will.

Material is easy as well as in class homework and quizzes, but the way he presents the questions on the tests is completely different than in class, he's helpful if you go talk to him outside of class and likes it when students speak up. Hard class, go talk to him early on for study advice and help.
