Comment:

I had her for math 113 and math 126. Both of those classes I had to drop because her lecture style is incoherent. If you want to blow a few hundred dollars and gain nothing, then take her class. She doesn't allow for corrections on problems done online. If you forget to capitalize "C" for a constant, then that question is wrong. Avoid her class.

Birgan doesn't thoroughly show how to do math. She has gotten so complacent in her job that she does not show *EACH* step in the math process; which is ridiculous, because the main *JOB* of the teacher is to *SHOW* how to complete problems successfully. She would be wise to take these reviews humbly and to improve her teaching skills.

Honestly, I'm almost 30 years old, and have dealt with many different people in my life, as well as many different professors. "Dr." Birgan is one of the most rude professors I have ever met. I have made the observation that she actually ENJOYS being rude to people, and she most likely enjoys reading these bad reviews. She is a horrible human being

Beware. She is a nice lady, but she is the most stern math prof I have had at Calhoun thus far. I realize that Calculus 2 is not for the faint of heart; however, Birgan didn't give clear lectures at all. For each lesson, I had to go home and watch 3 hours worth of vids of Prof. Leonard on youtube just to make it through. Calhoun should fire her.

If you have to take more math after trig, don't take Birgan. You won't retain anything because she doesn't teach. Her class is homework driven and if you can't figure it out on your own, you won't figure it out at all because she will ignore any questions you ask and refuse to let you into her office to ask questions in person.

Do not take her, the grading criteria were not clear, she has a weighted system of grading but does not implement it until the final week. My grade fell from an A to a B. The only way I can even make an A is making a 98 on her final. Also, her lectures are unhelpful and she gives no extra credit what so ever. Mymathlabs was useful though.

I've always struggled in math, but I've been able to manage. If you try to ask a question, she repeats what she just said. She doesn't simplify anything. There's no extra credit either or test re-takes.

I took this class online. She set up YouTube links for lectures that were barely of any help to me. Most of the info in them did not seem to correlate with MyMathLab HW assignments. Through MyMathLab examples, I learned about Pre Calculus. I got to the point where I didn't even look at her lecture vids. I just let MyMathLab teach me.

Any time I asked her a question she would basically just say the same thing again and expect us to know it. She is a nice person, but a bad teacher. I asked for help 2 weeks before the final and she said I would do fine. No need for extra help. I failed the final and had to retake the class in the summer Do not takeven her if you have a choice

This class is the hardest class that I have had. She does not give extra credit or partial credit. Homework is harder than what she goes over in class. When you ask her a question about how to do a problem, she tells you to go to YouTube instead of showing you how.

DO NOT take her if you have the choice. I took this class online because I was overseas for the majority of the summer. VERY short and rude responses to all my emails and unable to work with me in difficult situations. Passive-aggressive and harsh vibe. I felt like I was bothering her every time I reached out. Obviously does not enjoy her job.

There are teachers who very obviously love their jobs and will do everything they can reasonably do to help their students to succeed. They are delightful people and the world needs more of them. And then there's Dr Birgan. She is not one of those teachers. I'm convinced that this was not her first career choice and that she's bitter about it.

There are more than enough resources available to pass her class but you have to work for it. You're not in high school anymore. You're a college student. Dr Birgan will not coddle you or hold your hand while you take a test. She holds you accountable for your performance. Study hard, act like the adult that you are and you'll do fine in her class.

This was the rudest and horrible teacher I have ever had. She does not teach, she lets mml do all the work for you. On my 1st test I made a 30 because I had trouble with blackboard running slow and taking forever to load the next question I ran out of time half way through the test. I tried to explain this but she refused to let me finish test

She is absolutely the rudest teacher I have ever dealt with. When I ask for explanation she is not clear and doesnt seem to know what she is doing. I only passed because of Mathlab. She does absolutely nothing to help the students. Like the other students say if you can teach yourself then go for it, but she is no help at all.

If you are not strong in Math DO NOT take her. She does not give extra credit. I had no problem in the course because I used MyMathLab to study. After watching 1 lecture I saw it was not helpful. If you are strong in math and just need the credit to move on take her, otherwise steer clear.
