Although enthusiastic, taking this class was not a pleasant experience. This instructor is bias, and for a "world cultures" course the material covered was very narrow and uninteresting. This instructor was very strange and I would not recommend

Don't call her anything but Dr. Miller! She is nice but crazy. It is nice that she is super enthusiastic about Ling. Anth and about her research in Japan. Everything is related back to her research. She is very opinionated about everything, can get annoying. Don't use your phone EVER in class & try to keep your opinions to yourself. Kinda boring.

Dr. Miller is a great teacher, she's really intelligent in her subject and she keeps class very interesting. She might seem a little intimidating because she's very outspoken and doesn't hide anything, but just don't take it too seriously. She can be a bit defensive, but it won't affect your grade or the subject's interest. Easy class really.

Don't take this class unless your an ANTH major and its required. Tests are on completely random things that are barely mentioned in class. Homework is sporadic and given in class so you must go to every class. Can be very mean if you just want to ask a question. Grades are lower than you would expect and she takes off points on random stuff.

Go to class!! Don't talk while she's talking--you'll get yelled at. Grades bases off of 6 quizzes and an annotated bibliography, which was nearly impossible to do. Study notes after every class and try to write fast--she doesn't post on blackboard. Pay attention to details, chances are they will be on the quizzes. I still liked the class, though.

I took her for the first time this semester and loved her. She is really nice when you get to know her, she just has strong opinions and she knows her stuff. The class was based on 3 projects, a huge paper, and a presentation. Do the homework, and you should be fine. Does homework questions by lottery, so go to class or else you lose points.

She made the class pretty interesting. The tests aren't hard if you read the material thoroughly. She can be extremely short with students who ask questions during class. I wouldn't recommend speaking with her outside of class either because she is really, really mean.

Who would have tought anthropology could be that interesting? Not me! I only read a book and part of another one one-of the 4 we had to read, but scored high on both exams (mid-term & final). I dislike group projects and activities, but the ones she organized were actually interesting. Fair grader and interesting character

This is a very strange class. It doesn't seem difficult at all, yet grades are lower than you would expect. She tests on random things barely mentioned in class, and sometimes I wonder why I bother trying to study for her tests (it won't help). If you aren't an anthropology major, don't take this class. If you are, you have to, so good luck.

I don't get this lady. Her class is interesting, as is the material that she covers. But she's rather sloppy and disorganized and tests you on the most random things from books and statements she makes in class, so you must listen to every word she says. She's also a bit on the grumpy side. If only she weren't such a hardass. I withdrew.

This class had more than 150 students so it was very impersonal. She puts a TON of her own opninions into teaching, and is a tough grader. The subject matter was interesing, but she's too liberal for my taste.

Thought i was doing great and ended up with a C+. She is an easy grader but her tests are SUPER tricky so pay attention to every word she says.even if it has not much to do with class. Also, the class was "world cultures" but all she talks about is japan and these random primitive freaks...not very insightful.wouldn't recommend for core.

The topic of this course is extremely interesting, but she is a horrible professor. She ridicules and criticizes all the students, telling them that Americans have no morals and are ignorant and worthless. Basically, she studied Japan for her thesis and believes that the Japanese transcend all others. Avoid her if you can.

It started off as an interesting class, but she never gave us any formal feedback. Thought I was doing really well, but ended up with B. I think some of it was personal--I think she takes some comments personally and can be very unprofessional.

I loved her! Such a great teacher. I learned so much from her. She is by no means easy, but it she is such an interesting character and so passionate about her course, which made it easy to learn from her. She's crazy and fun, not traditional in her style of teaching, very out there, tells funny stories. I absolutely loved her class.

Her assignments are really cool. She's an easy grader on the papers, but her quizzes can be kind of hard. I did really well on the midterm without studying so I didn't worry about the final... big mistake. STUDY FOR THE FINAL! and you should do fine. She's really funny and really knows her stuff.

If the class is huge, you won't have much fun. If you have to take it, sit in the front. If you get her in a small class (15 people, 300 level)you get to do a lot more upper-level kind of work --which doesn't necessarily mean harder! You do research on what you're interested in, and you LEARN as opposed to just studying and not retaining much.
