Weis is a laid back guy who cares deeply about his students, and has some of the more interesting lectures on campus. However his criteria for grades are vague, so you never really know how well you are doing in the class.

Professor Weis is the epitome of IWU's best quality: teachers that seriously care about their classes and students. Mike was my Freshman advisor and became an unofficial mentor. He cared so about my work in his classes and in my overall education (years after he was no longer my advisor). Very engaging, you'll definitely learn something.

Overall good, funny, entertaining, but often late to class by a few minutes and then holds us over the time. doesn't offer a lot of opportunities/questions asked for participation points even though the syllabus says participation is part of your grade.

Great guy! Great teacher! Gives vague assignments but he's there to help. Dr. Weis is profoundly knowledgable about Latin America. He also makes it well worth it to attend! Funny guy! May be offensive to some...but I'd definately recommend taking his class. Just make sure you put your work into it, and if you have questions go to his office hours!

What a wonderful man! His lectures are both captivating and hilarious. His tests, specifically the ID sections, can be really tough, but he'll generally tell you what readings to study up on beforehand, which makes it easier.

The best teacher- and quite possibly my favorite person- on campus. Intelligent, down-to-earth, and hilarious, he's earned both my respect and love. To do well in his classes, go to every one, take good notes, study hard for his tests, and have him skim over your paper before you turn it in. He's a tough grader, but the A- or B+ is worth it.

Hi went on his Cuban Rev May Term back in 2003. It was an eye opening experience that changed the way I viewed the worl. Weis is very laid back and makes his classes fun. You take what u want out of his classes.

Took about 5 classes with this prof, great teacher. Not hard to get a good grade. Just need to take good notes and study for the tests. Went with him to England for a class about the Beatles, so much fun. Recommended for anyone. Great lectures, keeps it interesting, and knows his stuff.
