Laura is a nice lady but a terrible teacher. I found myself sitting in lecture and then going home and re-teaching myself what I was supposed to have learned in class. she assigns too much homework and she assigns these things called "quest" where you have to write a paper about the chapter we learned about. 11/10 would not recommend

Comment:

Nice person, awful professor. Her lectures are rambly and she tends to overcomplicate things, which is a problem when you're taking the lower level math courses. I taught myself everything and relied heavily on tutors to even come close to passing. Avoid at all costs.

Professor Perez is a great professor! She's kind and VERY accessible outside of the course; she will help or give direction with homework. Cons: 1. Discussion Board per chapter and two responses to two other students 2. Two exams (midterm and final) are proctored (which defeats the purpose of the course being online in my opinion).

I spent HOURS doing homework. She gave us 17 assignments to do over spring break. Never put grades in the grade book, I would email her over and over again until she finally posted grades. She gets very frustrated if you ask questions. Towards the end of the semester i would show up for class cause it was mandatory but rely on tutors to teach me

Comment:

Laura Perez is a fantastic professor. I took this math class to help me with medication dosaging when nursing. The class I took was online, but she was always available to help when it was needed. There are some discussion participation points (which are not hard) and quite a bit of homework but it preps you for the tests and exams. Extremely fair!

I put "lecture heavy" because she does tend to lecture a lot, (but not about the material for class.) She is a very caring lady, did all she could to help her students pass. I enjoyed her class, she was easy to get a hold of when I didn't understand a problem on the homework. I would take a class with her again!

I have learnt absolutely nothing in this class. She stories that don't relate to the topics. Her tests are exactly the study guides, except different numbers. Her class is an easy A. If class wasn't mandatory I probably wouldn't show up because I know everything already...

I thought I'd picked the wrong prof to take summer class. I was wrong. If you listen, every single thing is explained, repeatedly. She is clear, uses her personal experience as examples (which some people complain about, but it cuts that "When will I ever use this?" question apart) and spends lots of time solving problems on the board. Great prof.

Over all, she's a wonderful human being but I didn't learn or remember anything in her class. I honestly know more about her personal life than I do about math. She didn't even stand up or write the notes out in class. She just read it off from a PDF on black board. I had to go home and teach myself her lessons every day in order to pass.

She's a sweet lady, and she did everything in her power for people in my class to pass. She took the time out and held study groups for us before exams. She likes to add a little humor to her class time. She does move a little fast in the way that she doesn't explain every little step precisely, but if you ask her to stop and go back she will.

Hands down, one of my favorite mathematics instructors at Washtenaw Community College. She has a very calm, pleasant demeanor which for me, was very conducive to feeling comfortable in a somewhat difficult math class (for me at least). She is also extremely quick to grade quizzes and exams! I recommend her for people who are anxious about math!

I took 167 online. Definitely a blowoff class. I've never taken a class so easy. Not much studying is needed, you can read right out of the book as you're doing the work. She didn't want to help me with anything. I emailed her several times and not once did she give me helpful advice. I got an A, but I could've gotten an A+ if she helped me more.
