Comment:
Larry is by far one of the best professors I've had at Carleton so far. He's not only enthusiastic about the class, but is just so knowledgeable about the subject in all areas (history, literature, music, science, name it!). Great intro class. Clear instructions. Learned a whole lot. Great laugh, great guy.

Larry's enthusiasm for his subject is infectious, and he really rewards you if you put careful thought in your essays. He gives practice exams on top of that! For an intro class, it surveyed the material well to a high degree of rigor (I think so anyway). I know he says he grades hard, but he's really fair. Do yourself a favor. take his class.

Larry is the nicest man alive. He also makes music so interesting because he is so energetic and passionate about it. He is so understanding and kind. He's just a great guy all around and one of the best professors I have had at Carleton. He is also such a dedicated musician. Larry is very detail-oriented and really on top of his game.

It was intro to the study of music. I retook the class because my first experience with another professor was not good. He's great, he's pretty clear, but his laugh is the greatest sound in the world.

Larry was the best teacher I had at Carleton (and I wasn't even a music major). Listening to him dissect a piece of music, or doing off the cuff imitations at the piano to highlight aspects of a style, were among my favorite moments in a Carleton classroom. He places greater focus on the technique of academic writing at a sentence level than many.

One of the best professors, and best _people_ I knew at Carleton. Very hard, but in the way that makes you better. Any class from him is a truly worthwhile experience.
