Lectures were a convoluted mess of information. Not sure how anyone was able to follow them. Readings are a must if you want to do well on the papers. He is an editor and grades papers accordingly, so be aware. He grades papers against the ones that he thinks did the best so your best may not get you the A you think you deserved. I got B in course.

Comment:

Baron is a living encyclopedia of Jewish history; the class is fun and interesting. Lectures contain a lot of information, so it is important to attend class and take notes for use in your essays. Attendance was never mandatory unless there was a discussion. Grading is fair, and Baron will help in every way possible.

Comment:

The Holocaust was an amazing class and Prof. Baron is knowledge of information. He has funny little songs that he sings, survivors from the Holocaust come in and speak, great movies and he is a very fair person. A LOT of reading required BUT it is on such an interesting topic, it is almost hard to put your book down.

Very good lecturer and a nice guy. Knows his stuff and is very enthusiastic about subject. I would recommend Dr. Baron to all serious students of history. Note: as with all history courses, you get what you put in and you must do the readings to be prepared for discussions (3) and papers (3).

Amazing, wonderful Prof!!! Baron is very smart and knowledgeable, helpful, kind, funny, and easygoing. Gives great advice, easy to talk to, knows his stuff, flexible and brilliant all-around. Can't wait to take another class with him!!!

His lectures are extremely boring. He is a nice guy though and tries to relate to his students. There are tons of textbooks for this class. Participation is mandatory on presentation days. One midterm paper and final paper. Also either a presentation or book review. If you put in some effort you should get at least a B.

Lectures were on the dry/informal/indirect side, but I walked away with a lot of knowledge. Prof. Baron is a funny guy and a fair grader and his assignments allowed you to be creative and innovative. He is a little challenging on the grading, but if you put forth effort and give him the facts he wants, you'll come out okay. I recommend him.

Comment:

Not only is he an excellent lecturer, but he's also an amateur comedian. He had great songs on historical events and the budget cuts to the CSU system. Two take-home essay exams (5-6 pages), and the option of a 10 minute presentation or a book report. Overall a great learning experience. Highly recommended.

Could do a whole section on the History channel if he wanted too. Somewhat tough, but fair grader. No hw. Papers and presentations only, can be a littel time consuming, but not difficult. Takes attendance rarely. Lecture can be long winded. You will come out of this class having learned something. Do the work and youll walk out with a solid B.

Dr Baron is extremely helpful and knows his subject matter. He works tirelessly and is well prepared. If you want to learn and are a self starter take him. He grades very fair but not easy. He likes class and blackboard participation and a large part of your grade depends on this. Highly recommend him for any class he is teaching. PS. He is hot.

He's fairly easy, only 4 papers due but I found it difficult to get an A on them.Go to the class or else you'll find it hard to write the papers. You won't find these movies at Blockbuster :). Movies are interesting but can be a little long. Bring a seat cushion, your ass WILL fall asleep.

Dr Baron is my favorite prof. he is helpful and challaenging. He allows you to pick your own research areas. He has a sense of humor. Participation and attendence are important in final grade. Recommend him highly. An A is easy with dilligence and participation. DO THE BLACKBOARD DISCUSSIONS.

The material covered can be interesting, provided you do the reading and actually find out what you're learning. He is a very dry, very boring lecturer, but very easy. His papers are very easy to BS, and he loves it when you go to outside lectures for extra credit.

I took his Holocaust lecture and film classes both of which were boring but super easy. Do the work and you'll get an A. However, he is rather boring so know how to hide the fact that your sleeping, I did!
