He is the scariest man I have ever met and his class was the hardest class I have taken in my four years of college. However, he is passionate and you will come out learning a great amount. He is tough but with reason. His teaching style challenges you to think and defend your opinion. Incredibly brilliant!

Proffesor Brownstein is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He believes you learn through confusion so most people who experience his lectures feel "intimidated" when called upon. Know what your talking about. Be prepared. Do not think because this is an intro course that it will be easy. You will leave much more knowledgeable!

Ok this professor is a good lecturer and some people feel that his lectures are worth a low grade. I dont. I have had many prof who were good lecturers who didnt kill my GPA. Expect 2 letter grades lower than u r used to. People leave his tests crying and there's something majorly wrong with that. He has a monopoly on certain classes so good luck.

Cold War: As a freshman, there seemed an improbable amount of reading. Yet, I have never learned so much in a single class. His lectures fry your brain like an SAT, but he is an enthralling lecturer. A "C/B" in his class is highly commendable. No BS. Take a course with Brownstein and you'll remember it forever. He is a Graduate-level Professor.

Brownstein has such a bad reputation, but is the most amazing prof I've ever had. His grading is so difficult, but if you do the work and reading correctly you CAN get an A. He gives directions for exactly what he wants, and is crystal clear about everything. Most informative and fun class ever.

From early impressions, I was afraid of Brownstein, like many are. He is a strict marker and his tests require lots of reading and memorization. I was worried about failing at one point, but I just pushed myself harder and managed to get a B. He grades papers relatively easy (make sure to follow directions, though!), but the tests were killer.

brownstein is wonderful. the complaints made about him aren't groundless, he's very difficult. and hard-headed. But that's because he wants people to have to defend their opinions. he's one of the most knowledgeable people i've ever met and very helpful (if you go to his office hours, he's much less intimidating.) Oh, also he's hilarious.

this teacher knows what he is talking about but is a hard grader. Attendance is madatory. You have to really read the textbook to understand what he is talking about in class because that is what his lectures are about. His test are half multiple choice and essay.
