Comment:
Professor Craton's class was boring and hard to sit through to say the least. He is very interested in what he is teaching but it could get very dull very quickly. Not sure I actually learned anything about Developmental Psych, it was mostly about evolution. He also rarely answered emails in a timely manner, but does give paper extensions.

Really interesting, often gets off topic or goes on and on about his own experiences or kids. Has two huge papers that are intimidating, but it's with a partner. Both put together is worth 60% of your grade. If you commit to it and work hard, you'll do well. I got a 92% on the first one. Took a lot of time but not bad if you put in the effort.

Professor Craton is such a great professor and person! He truly cares about his students and makes his class interesting in every way possible. There are a lot of different aspects of developmental psychology that he covers that is definitely important too.

Craton tries to make his lectures really interesting but the can get pretty dull. I thought that his grading was pretty easy. He focuses a lot on evolutionary psych which can get irritating. Overall, if you put in the effort and show him you care you'll do well.

Comment:
This class was one of the more difficult ones that I have taken in the psych department. Craton is a hard grader but he makes it seem like he is a easily going guy, but don't be fooled. His tests are hard because he will go off on a tangent in class and then you will be tested on the info that you were SUPPOSED to learn. Don't take a class with him

Craton is awesome. His class is mostly discussion based so there isn't a lot of note-taking, which is awesome. He's funny and engaging so you don't get bored during the class. Most of the focus is evolutionary developmental psych, but it's interesting all the same. Definitely love his class

I am a psych major and was extremely excited to take this class, but he did not teach anything. No notes or lectures. I have learned absolutely nothing. If you are interested in learning anything DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Very disappointing.

Really funny guy. Passionate about the subject and is more than willing to help and answer any questions. Two papers (one collaborative), two exams, two quizzes and one final exam. Fairly easy exams, quizzes and grading papers.

Had him for both research mthds AND dev psych. GPA killer for both. He is very helpful BUT he is a harsh grader and asks the most ridiculous questions on exams. You THINK you are doing well, but then when you get your grades you are SHOCKED at how poorly you did.STAY AWAY

Prof. Craton is such a cool guy. He is a tough grader, but he is more than willing to help you through anything you you have trouble with. He's very funny and really just wants his students to be as fascinated with Psych and research as he is. By the way, he thinks anything you say is brilliant...how can you go wrong there?

I was so excited to take developmental 1 and then all he taught was evolutionary psych stuff so he can write his book. Actually, we wrote his book for him. All he teaches you is that vegetables cause birth defects. VERY disappointing, i wish i could take the class over again with someone else.

uses power point too much, class is miserably boring. i felt like he didn't teach what he was supposed to be teaching (developmental-NOT evolutionary psych!)he didn't learn our names and wouldn't make eye contact when speaking. tests were easy
