Comment:

Pretty easy class to pass, pay attention to lectures and take some notes. I took the hybrid so all tests and quizzes were online (and therefore open note). Group project takes pretty much the whole semester (but could be done in a few days), she gave us class periods to do the project with the group.

Comment:

To put it bluntly, Linda is a very difficult person to deal with. Often times she is blunt and rude and not all that helpful to her students. A lot of the work she gives is busy work and it distracts from actually accomplishing the main assignments. She is also pretty unreasonable. First class I have ever had with her and will NEVER again!

Incredibly passive aggressive. Gets upset and demands validation when people don't listen. Very specific about grading. She wasted a lot of time early in the semester on pointless things. Talks entirely too much for someone teaching a class about common sense topics. All tests from the book and on BlackBoard. Class was soul crushingly boring.

Not helpful at all. She seems nice but she doesn't help the students if you ask for it. If you get a non-working group you will have a lot of problems to get a good grade in this class. Don't expect help from the teacher.

I had Professor Heil for an online summer course. She was great! She has clear criteria and guidelines for her students to follow. She is a tough grader, but that is because she is very passionate about Communications and expects, as she should, that Communication majors are also very passionate. I would, and have, taken her again, very thorough.

I was attempting to take this class online and Ms. Heil was totally not helpful, she made me feel awful. that is not the mark of a good teacher, to leave you struggling when you have questions and just want to do well. there needs to be another teacher for this class as she is in my opinion, just not someone who cares about her students

Professor Heil is a very tough grader!!! Her comments on your work will leave you shaking your head. You absolutely MUST have the textbook and USE it. I got an A on every test and quiz and I will finish with a low B in her class. That is how hard she grades.

I would have liked this class so much better is Heil wasn't the professor. She is terrible! She is not understanding at all when it comes to family emergencies or for any serious legit excuse as to why work was late or not turned in. The only good thing about this class was having an awesome ASSIGNED group that stuck up for me for the above reason.

BE SURE TO PARTICIPATE IN EVERYTHING. I got confused by the way her due dates were worded and didn't turn my first assignment in on time. Even though I was participating in my group for the group project AND in discussions, she withdrew me from the class, claiming that I had not completed enough to be counted as attending, even after talking to her

Doesn't give study guides material is self-explanatory. She had zero control over the class, pretty much lets people say whatever they want and act disruptive. Has you do a group project but doesn't let you choose, so I got stuck in a group with a bunch of mentally unstable people. Nice teacher, but I wouldn't take this class again.

My favorite professor! She is not easy to pass but if you do the work and study you will have no problems. She is very passionate about communication studies and it shows. Take her class if you want a little bit of a challenge but don't want to be overwhelmed!

She is strict with grading. Her blackboard is all over the pd is very poorly organized which makes assigments confusing. I emailed her a few times for help and she was very blunt and unfriendly in her responses. Hated every second of the class- but still finished with a high B

Prof. Heil is a strict teacher, there's no doubt about that, but she's not mean. She's really approachable and will be more than happy to help if you don't understand something. She does grade harshly, so if you want an A+ you have to work extra hard and make sure that everything follows her guidelines. Overall, I would recommend her class.

Thought she was a snob at first, but she gets better as the semester goes on. Hated the group speech work - got stuck with a really creepy guy. She really loves the nonverbal stuff. READ THE BOOK! She tests heavily from it.

Tough on her grading. Not a fly by online class, she really puts you to work. Groups people in the online class together for projects, so this makes it hard because everyone takes online classes because of different schedules. Lots and Lots of work. Best advice: READ EVERY CHAPTER.

I took this class online. The usage of blackboard is extensive and this class is very time consuming, but the information gained is very useful. Mrs. Heil was very clear in her instructions and fair in grading. She's very quick to respond to questions and post grades. I'd gladly take other classes with her in the future.

one word WOW. This speech class was something I didnt know I was getting myself into! Mrs. Heil grades extremely tough! She is very challenging and totally challenged me this semester. Speech's have SO many guidelines to follow.. ! If you ask any questions make sure you look at your syllabus first.. im warning you first hand lol. she is nice tho.

I was not happy with the teacher in the beginning at all. She is very blunt and rude when responding to questions. The syllabus is 10 pgs and has all the info she thinks you should need. After you figure out her grading style it gets easier. She does eventually come around. This class was very informative and useful for the real world. I enjoyed it
