Comment:

Lectures were very vague, hard to follow, grades extremely harsh on labs and tests, with labs she hands out the lab and does not give any instructions, she assumes you know what to do. Very unfortunate that she is the only one who teaches Geo 320. She follows the book almost exactly. She is not very good at answering questions.

She acts like class could not be over soon enough. She grades harshly and lectures loosely. She is socially inept and her criticisms are destructive not constructive. Her lectures are straight out of the textbook. I have asked what else I can do to succeed and she shrugged me off, leaving me in lab alone before class was over. Good luck all

Took for paleontology. Lectures are very confusing. Writes 1 word on the board and says a few things about it, then erases it right away. Tests cover material that is not discussed in lecture and is sometimes in the text book.

Awesome class, as long as you study her notes on what she lectures about you are golden! She is very enthusiastic about the subject and very understanding when something comes up. She will work with you if you ask her. Essay tests are easy to pass if you study your notes. Learned to enjoy the subject of fossils even more!

Makes the subject uninteresting. Voice very monotone. Tests are NOT easy. Homework is pretty easy though. This is a class you will need to read the book and take notes. She has some questions on the test where you need the notes from a few of her lectures. You can tell she really loves Geology though which is pretty cool.

Grades ridiculously hard. Half the stuff she lectures about isn't even on the test. I haven't used the book once. Try to take another class if you can. She is passionate about what she teaches, but is very dry and not a very good teacher, just a good talker.

Very monotone. She knows her stuff, and you can tell she is excited to tell you. This class can be hard, the tests ain't easy and the labs can be very informative. Overall she wasn't bad, but she wasn't great either.

Lectures are scattered. Pay close attention and you should be alright. Teacher loves the subject attitude drains the enthusiasm out of a classroom! Personal skills are DEFINETLY Lacking. Not an all out terrible teacher but I would not reccomend this insturctor to a friend.

Comment:

I do not like geology at all, but it was sort of interesting to learn how things worked. Dr. McCullom was a boring teacher. Her tests were difficult, but I managed to get an A. The good thing that I can say about her is that she is very dedicated to what she does. I'm happy she didn't let her political views interfere, like other EWU profs.

There is a lot of detail so you have to study, but the tests are graded on a curve so that you can miss quite a few and still get a 4.0. So if you get science even a little and do your homework you will get a grade that will keep your GPA up.

Unless you're a mind-reader, it is absolutely impossible to do well in her geology class. You could study until you're blue in the face, and still never manage to get at all of the useless trivia she puts on her tests that have nothing to do with t he material covered. Not that she cares...

Two words for you.... ESSAY TESTS. This is a lecture class with basically just stats and numbers but the tests are 6-7 questions and you are expected to write 1/2 page on each. I read all material, go to every class, and I still haven't passed a test. It sucks.
