She is a friendly prof, her assignments are pretty tricky but if you show up to class and put in the effort to do the work, then you will be able to understand the course content very well. I do recommend taking some university level writing course like ENGL112 before taking this course though

Great prof; is genuinely interested and passionate about what she teaches and gives good lectures. Lots of reading, though, and don't take her if you've never done university-level writing before (like I did). If you already know how to write, though, you should be fine.

Best prof I've had in my 4 years at UBC. Her classes are interesting and engaging and her enthusiasm is contageous. She expects a lot from you both with assignments and attendance/participation, but she makes it fun to go to class. Highly recommended.

she is awesome, her TAs SUCK. they dun do anything, dun help u and just marks outrageously...first i got B+/B on my essay and then it got changed to C/C-...what is that? got my as raped in the course, but not the prof's fault

HER T.As NEED TO BE MORE LENIENT. Although her lectures werent bad and she was funny, the T.As were extremely harsh in their marking. She was helpful and clarified on some points, but the T.As did not help at all. Some of the literature that we had to read weren't very fun either.

Worst class I've ever taken. But Dr. Grekul is a great prof. who is really passionate about Can. Lit. and you can learn a lot from her about this subject. Beware though, I had the worst TA from hell. I almost failed the course even though I was in the 95th percentile for provincials coming in from highschool.

Very good teacher. Entertaining class, wasn't all that interested in Can. Lit. before taking class. Ended with a lower than expected mark, but it was more related to my TA than Dr. Grekul. Made material interesting, made lectures funny.

I took two classes with her and i must say i have never had such an inspirational prof. She is helpful, funny and really knowledgable about Can Lit. She marks hard but fairly and always gives good feedback. The best prof i have ever had!!!

WAY to harsh of a marker. I got my lowest English grade ever in her class. She expects too much. Really nice person and fun...I've seen her at the bar a few times. But don't take her class if you want a good mark.

I Hated this class! Shes very passionate about cdn lit...but wayy too harsh a marker. She expects way too much for the essays. It's the worst mark I've ever got in english. I wouldn't recommend her for someone who is just average in english and expects to get a good mark.

A really warm, approachable,knowledgeable, and enthusiastic prof. You won't fall asleep in her lectures for sure. Her anecdotes can be hilarious! She seems very particlar about grammatical points and such in essays, so beware. Other than that, a really great prof.
