The best spanish teacher I've had in years. He tells you he wants to give you an A; he's not a hardass about class participation, but if you do you'll do well; when he speaks english it's hilarious. I would take this class over and over again. Light workload, interesting readings, and he's genuinely interested in his students.

Luis is an incredibly fun professor! He makes even the most boring subject better because he gets so excited about everything. Though his English skills are minimal, his Spanish is crystal clear. Relaxing and fun class, grading is very fair. Improvement level wasn't high but it was nice to have a Spanish class that wasn't grueling. Very personable!

Professor Chavez is an awesome Spanish prof. He's nice, fairly easy to understand, and doesn't give too much work. Learned a lot of interesting stuff about Latin American culture. Definitely recommend his class. Take him if you can!

don't expect to improve on your spanish..you may never speak spanish until the oral presentation. you'll be okay if you go to class just once a week--he'll stop taking attendence. easy-going, but not the best professor. exams are unclear so be sure to study more than what he says...otherwise a somewhat easy grader.

He's a great teacher. He's extremely easy, and doesn't speak English, but he makes sure that we can understand him. I definitely can understand spoken Spanish more, coming out of his class. He's very nice, and will help you as much as he can if you need it.

Great professor, makes a lot of jokes, and genuinely wants the students to learn. He doesn't speak English but he is learning it, which is cool since we're learning Spanish =P Definitely recommended.

This is the nicest, most personable guy ever. He is an easy grader, but coming out of his class I am now able to understand spanish conversation, tv etc. amzingly well. It is a plus that he doesn't speak english. Read the stories, and participate in the class and you'll not have "just" the grade

Great prof, really cares about his students. He doesn't speak any english, so I wouldn't recommend taking an introductory course with him. He's a really easy grader, which is good if you're just trying to finish your language requirement, but if you want to go on in spanish, consider another prof.

Luis is a good teacher, but if you really want to learn you have to be motivated-- you don't have to do much work to do well in the class.

really wants his students to do well and is an easy grader BUT he speaks no English-had a hard time understanding questions from students, especially hard to learn grammar-since final is from dept, students not well prepared for it

He could speak as much english as I could spanish basically and considering it was an intro class class I couldn't speak very much spanish. tests were easy, didn't check homework in depth, easy grader with compositions and speecial projects. very nice guy

Doesn't speak english at all, which I don't think is so good for an introductory class, but he's very easy and very nice.
