You should not take this class if you want to slack off. Make an effort to study regularly if not daily and you will do well in this class. Focus on learning over a grade.

Dr. Materon is an excellent professor who knows how to teach and inspire students. Most of the students in this course enjoy the course and most want to get a good preparation to medical school. This is a key course to get. His exams are open-ended and fair. I got an A and I recommend this course to those who want to learn virology.

Awful professor. Openly belittles those who ask for help. He does NOT care about you or helping you at all. Exams are all very vague and he is never clear on what exactly you need to know and he will not answer questions during exams. Don't believe these other positive reviews, they seem fake.

If you don't give a positive evaluation right before it's due, he will not knock off half the chapters on his final. Lots of exams with answer keys were passed around, so those who say they passed or got A's cheated. Apparently, it's been happening for years. The questions are worded vague on exam, be prepared to fail.

NOT EASY A! But you learn, he loves his job and teaching. Write everything he says, print the notes, and read the book. Study every day or you won't pass, or at least 1 week before the test. He's willing to help his students, he just want us to really learn. Amazing professor, he knows what he is teaching.

He's a great prof and he really knows a lot, but he often expects you to also. You must have a solid foundation of basic biology because all he does is build on what you should already know. Also, you MUST study everyday. Take note of what comes out of his mouth rather that what is in the book, but having the book is nice for cross-referencing.

Dr. Materon knows a lot and is very knowledgeable but you need to have a strong foundation of general Biology of you will not pass. You MUST study everyday for hours. You need to know all material front and back. Excellent opportunity to know if you are cut out for Med school. Honestly this is the hardest class I have ever taken.

This professor wants his students to pass, but gives very specific exams. If you miss class more than 3 times, expect to get points deducted. The tests are based on the lectures. This is a tough class if you don't study everyday. Definitely not an easy A.

Materon is a great teacher, but his class is very difficult. There are 3 tests and a final. The tests involve a lot of reading from the book, in class notes, and notes that you print out. There is a lot of material, so the class will be difficult to get an A. Don't cram

Dr. Materon is one of the best professors at this institution. He is excellent at explaining the course material. He makes microbiology very fun. If for whatever reason you did not clearly understand he is available to answer all questions. Whoever says otherwise never put in the time and effort into his class. Highly recommend his micro course.
