Doc is an interesting guy... he is very passionate about animal science, but the class is a bit tedious. Be prepared to take a lot of notes. He wants every student to do well, so go to him if you have any questions about the material. He does not do the grading, so make sure you stay on top of things, or go to the TAs to see what your grade is.

Doc McNeal is a very sweet man, but not my favorite professor. The lectures were slightly tedious, but informative. He tells lots of stories and likes to talk about his vast experience and contributions. He takes roll -- be there! He is very easy to work with and prompt and responding to email. It will be a sad day at USU when he retires.

Doc is an awesome guy. He truly cares and wants every student to do well. Hes glad to help with anything you need. He loves what he does and its apparent. With that said, lectures are long and slow and alot about him (but hey thats easy points on quizes/test). There are tons of extra credit opportunities. No reason to fail this unless you didnt try

Lectures are often about himself, and of course, that's what he will test you on. He teaches so many trivial things that only apply if you are really going into the hands-on agriculture industry as opposed to a field of science. Lectures are completely useless but attendance gives points. Quizzes every friday but they aren't too hard with quizlet.

He is very caring and passionate about animal science. Always open to questions. He does everything from power points and you'll take notes the whole class. There is a quiz every week, but if you review your notes you'll do fine. Doc is funny and full of stories. You'll start each class with humorous memes and cartoons so it's pretty laid back.

Doc has a lot of experience in the world of Agriculture but lectures are slow and he tends to talk about himself a lot. So don't miss or you will be behind!

Lectures are very slow. He tends to talk about himself a lot, and asks questions on tests about his personal life and the stories he told. Weekly quizzes aren't too hard, if you just study the quizlets the night before you should be fine. You won't need the textbook and anthology.

Doc is a wonderful professor! He's done everything you can imagine in the agriculture world, and he sure loves his sheep and horses! There is much to learn from this respected professor. He is excellent at putting meaning behind his lectures and REALLY cares about his students. Lectures can be a bit slow, and the textbook/anthology aren't needed.

"Doc" is a very helpful teacher but the info can be a bit dry. The difficult part of the class are the tests. He has been known to put questions that were not covered during lecture, but do ALL of his abundant extra credit offered and you'll do fine. The book and the anthology are NOT needed. Print out the lecture slides and study off them.

Ridiculous and hard course. He tests you on irreverent, trivial, out dated info. He never taught us about different breeds but tested us on it. very boring class due to his lack of teaching skills. Never taught what was expected, always off topic, learned very little. I was excited to take this class, was disappointed. Should retire, don't take!!!

Tough class. Lectures aren't very interesting, although the material itself is. Definitely a "weeder" class to weed out the students who aren't willing to push for the good grade. Quizzes every week and not always easy. Offers a lot of extra credit throughout the semester.

Doc is a wonderful person, he has accomplished a lot in his life and he knows a lot of people, I don't think he talks about himself to brag necessarily I think he relates his experiences to enhance our understanding. I really appreciate that he makes sure to give his students hands on learning. That's my favorite part about this class.

The tests are tough but if you study you can pass, he is a fabulous lecturer. You need to show up to class if you are going to pass. "Doc" Lyle has many opportunities for extra credit. He is there for you and if you get to know him he will do anything to help you pass.

Doc is a very good professor, if your a sheep lover. He is old and outdated in his ways. Some things he taught in my class I knew for a fact were false. If you are looking for some easy credit class though, this is your class.

I adored this class. Remembering all the necessary material was a little hard - but there was a lot of it. I loved his teaching style and how he took the subject seriously, but not so seriously he couldn't make jokes about it here and there. Definitely the hardest class I took last spring, but also the funnest.

The information related to animal science is easy to understand and know, however if you don't know his biography you might want to do some research. Because he will probably ask questions about his life achievements on midterm and final. The weekly quizzes are not hard if you come to class and take notes. If at all possible don't take his class!

Best teacher ever. Mcneal cares about his students very much. His reproduction parts where that hardest for me but he provides all the resources to not just get an A but to learn. I have had 3 yrs in engineering in salt lake community college, over 20 different teachers, some good some bad, most ok. None of them compare to Mcneal.
