Be ready to memorize. Straight up memorize everything because he won't teach you. Ask him for an old exam and ask your friends to ask him. Pretty much the exact same questions every year. I learnt NOTHING in these classes. I'm a CHEM major and I have yet to actually use anything he taught. No idea how I got a good grade, I don't deserve it.

Peter is an amazing prof and he is so funny - making lectures more enjoyable. He gives lots of hints and stays true to them! Midterms are exactly same layout as samples, but final exam was hard. I definitely would take another chemistry class with him being the professor!

Easily one of the best professor I've ever had. I've always had trouble understanding chemistry. I've took 3 chemistry courses before taking organic II and almost failed all three of them. Orgo2 is the first chemistry course I actually understand. He established links between chemistry and the medical field which puts everything in perspective.

Great prof! Super approachable, keeps the material interesting. You literally just have to put in the work and you'll do well. He'll put some challenging questions on the exams but the majority of the questions are very fair.

Funny prof. If you can memorize all the reactions and what he teaches during class then you will get an A+. There is no need to understand how anything works (and you won't learn it). If you can just memorize all the reactions then you will be fine. He will throw some curve balls to keep the average down, but still possible to finish well

Dr. Buist's Field Guide to Organic Chemistry is AMAZING. Extremely clear and helpful, makes it easier to pay attention and learn from lectures, easier to review and study, everything is right there in one place. He is funny, engaging, loves what he does and shows it. He made learning organic chemistry enjoyable, which I didn't think could be done.

This professor makes learning organic chemistry interesting and worthwhile. No tricks or surprises on the tests, you either know the stuff or you don't. I am a student at Ottawa's other university, and this prof made me want to switch. Absolutely amazing.

Organic Chemistry was extremely difficult but Dr Buist made the lectures enjoyable. Midterms were tough, exam was nearly impossible. Know the mechanisms inside and out because they make up the majority of the midterms and exam. Go to the lectures, he gives lots of hints - which you will need come time to study. He's a great prof, but hard class

Dr. Buist is a phenomenal lecturer. He has a sense of humour that really makes the class more interesting. He is hugely knowledgeable. His midterm tests are very fair and stay true to the content taught in class, but his final exams can be a little challenging. However, he does pretty much give you marks in the first pages of it.

Great prof! He gives a lot of hints on what to expect on the midterm and exams. He pretty much tells you what's important and not important. GET THE BOOK! I found that the versions didn't matter since I had an older version, but everything you need to know is in that book.
