Lapprand is incredible well-versed in the french language and can readily answer any question you throw at him with a nice sprinkle of humour. He provides both concise and constructive feedback. He's incredibly friendly and creates a joyful atmosphere to work in - but you'll work hard. If you miss a class it'll be tough to catch up on your own!

Not into french literature at all and needed this class for minor requirement, and didn't really care for the class. He's a good teacher ,however, he marks hard for a second year french class where we are reading 18th century french novels. before buying novels check if they are available free online. Lots of quiz's so know the stories well

Comment:

An excellent teacher and the best class I've taken at university. Lapprand is always available to students. His answers can sometimes be taken as terse or aloof, but he encourages independent critical thinking rather than spoon feed students pat answers. I highly recommend his classes.

Awesome prof! I had no interest in the subject (Surrealism) before taking the class, but it turned out to be my fave by FAR. Very fair marker, wants you to do well. Clearly has an interest in the material and it comes across in class. Would definitely take another class with him.

M. Lapprand is a very smart man, perhaps the only bad thing about his courses, and his teaching, is that he's aware of this; he's quite proud, and it can be slightly annoying. If you're prepared for some hard work, you will learn a great deal from him. He's a fair marker.
