Professor doesnt lecture very well and puts a lot of emphasis on derivations while making elementary math errors. Exams were based off of a pool of questions with one each of each includiing a derivation, a conceptual question, a book example,and a homework problem. Is funny on ocassion but horrible lecturer overall obbious researcher not teach

Class was full of very disorganized, unstructured lectures, and challenging exams. 4 questions for 4-5 chapters, overall exams are 75% of grade. TA helped a bit and was cool, but we got lucky with her. Otherwise this class is purely self-study, and you learn no practical knowledge. It's basically a chem review class. Very disappointing.

Knowledgeable professor, but terrible job at teaching/communicating the material. Class was easy enough, but I got very little out of it. Needs to work on applicability of material, and not just spend the entire class deriving an equation. Sure, he makes a funny joke or two, but this was honestly one of the worst classes I've taken.

He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is funny, and his lectures are enjoyable. His tests are easy. if you attend lecture and do homework, an A is guaranteed. He does't give you tricky questions at all. His study guide matches the exam. I would definitely take him again.

Nice, funny and knowledgeable guy. He can go off-topic sometimes. He gives out only a few topics but you will have to read a lot from the textbook. Doing homework, reading textbook and studying examples from textbook will guarantee you an A.

taking MAE 160 with this guy was the worst class I have taken at UCSD. Completely unorganized (half the class didn't know when the hw was due one week), made us use the terrible book he wrote, going to class is completely useless because he goes off on irrelevant tangents and wastes everyone's time making elementary math errors.

Nice guy, smart, little scatterbrained, very laid back. Knows the material very well. Grades are arbitrary, however, as he doesn't actually grade anything or hand it back, just throws it away. Everyone gets a B or A, depending on how much he likes you. How much you learn dependent on you. Watch him on Modern Marvels on Discovery Channel.

Awesome teacher, very laid back, sometimes messes up when writing on board but his errors are very apparent and usually pointed out by some one in the class. Little HW's scattered throughout the quarter. Definite GPA booster.

interesting class. the topic is pretty tough but he tells great stories in class about some events in his life. His exams are based on the homework and the TA pretty much helps each week with the hw and helps u work on them in the review session. Easy class if you go to the review sessions each week.

Tends to ramble... but that's when he's at his funniest. He can really lighten the mood in his lectures when he rambles about steel or toucans or something else that he's passionate about so enjoy it--don't worry, he hasn't forgotten about lecture topics completely.
