I suck at philosophy (and I really don't like it), but I really did enjoy going to class with Margaret every other day. Her lectures are really easy to follow. The tests have a lot of information on them, but I never did too poorly. I never did the readings, but I'm sure I would have done better in the class if I would have. Most people get an A

She writes her notes on the board in every class so you won't miss anything because you will have plenty of times to copy down the notes and you don't need to read textbooks to get an A. The test was easy MCQs, with several short answer questions and an essay question which would be super easy if read her notes on the night before the test.

Professor Holmgren is an absolute sweetheart. She writes everything on the board and doesn't use stuff like blackboard - very old school. If you write down everything she writes on the board and fill out the study guide, you will barely even miss a point in the class. There were some really interesting discussions and the papers are easy also!

Comment:
Professor Holmgren doesn't believe in using ISU's blackboard system, making students lives very difficult. Her lectures are dry and boring, and tests are specific and confusing. There are only 5 opportunities for tests ALL semester making it hard to earn a great grade. I would recommend finding a different instructor to take this course with.

Super easy professor for Philosophy 230, just go to class or have a friend go and take notes. The tests are only based off the notes in class so you don't need to read.

Prof Holmgren was very nice, she knows Philosophy very well. The discussions were very interesting. She encouraged her students to speak and give comments in class but you can remain silent if you choose to. The two written assignments were quite easy because you can write anything about your own thoughts in 2 pages and she was an easy grader.

I surprisingly liked this class a lot. Class discussions about current controversial topics keep the class interesting. Attendance isn't required but the notes she puts on the board are definitely helpful on the exams. No homework at all besides 2 short papers. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER CLASS!

Always come to class. She writes everything important on the board, so just copy and study that for the tests. The books she requires aren't mandatory, although she does pull a few questions from the reading for the tests. Tests are all multiple choice, and she curves each test a whole letter grade. Overall, great teacher. Recommended.

Professor Holmgren is one of the nicest teachers I have had so far at ISU. The class isn't terribly difficult but it isn't an easy A neither. Test grades are not negotiable but if you are unhappy with a grade on a paper, she encourages you to go in and state why you think you should have gotten a better grade. She will usually up your grade.

This was such an easy class, as long as you take the notes she writes on the board you will do great on the multiple choice 3 multiple choice test and 2 papers. I didn't read any of the books and got an A. As long as you don't mind her flannel shirts and bowl hair cut you will enjoy her class.

One of the nicest professors I have ever had the privilege to learn from. Students should know the class notes very well before going into test. The two papers are graded very easily. There are 3 test which are 40 multiple choice questions. Each test and each paper is 20% of your grade. It is not difficult to get an A in this course

To get an A, you need to know the class notes by heart- but you don't have to read the books if you go to class and take good notes. If you study really hard 2 days before each test, you have a great shot at an A. There are 2 extra credit chances. There is no final- just 3 exams and 2 exams. She may look like a man, but she is a very nice person!!!
